Im alive a wee bit tired but oh well I have the next week off of work and girls have school/Mon/Tues so I will have alone time to do whatever them:) IM so glad you got all girls what colors are they now?? I would LOVE to get a batch like that but you know my luck I d get 2 girls and 8 roos thats my luck lately...I have 7 millies that hatch out this past week and from the attitudes I bet I have 4 roos! haha so tiny and cute-bused DH holdingthem saying" aren't you the cutest little thing-oooh and your so so tiny-aw look at the widdle peanut one!" He loves tiny chicks thank goodness as they will be house chickens for quit a while now! I waiting for the 5 fluff bal silkies to fully feather out and in about 3 more weeks they will go into garage with a heating light with the others....still debating on putting eggs under broody if I have the energy to set up another brooder box in garage. We were SUPPOSED to move my FIl's little sportscar back in garage before winter realy sets in but if I did that -that leaves NO room for anything-so I asked DH...Can't we sneak the car in there in Spring before he gets back here? ( his dad is leaving first week of Dec to his FL house) I hope he'll agree as he likes all the room that is down there to tend to the pens as much as I do:)

No more banties for me - it's impossible to rehome banty roos or even banty hens around here! Everyone wants big ol eggs and/or meat chickens. Not sure what to do yet. LOL.

large fowl roos are easy to rehome if I give them to 'the craigslist guy', but I try to get them good homes first if I can.

Nat, I have 4 blues and 6 blacks! Really pretty!

And I have to tell you, I had a weird thing happen this week. I hatched Olive Eggers in June from someone else on BYC and I have 3 girls from that hatch. Now here's the weird part, they all have feathered feet, BCM part, and two have smooth faces and 1 has muffs. Ones smooth face lays dark, dark olive eggs, and one hasn't laid yet and the muffed one lays a dark brown egg! I thought for sure with the muffs it would be olive, no????? I'm so confused!

Hmmmm I know lot about OE's but then again Im always learning too. the muffs dont 100% mean they will lay colored eggs as I have an a blue ameracauna that lays huge brown eggs. I posted photos of her a while back and everyone who pipped in thought she is a gorgeous blue ameracauna-then I informed everyone well this chick lays brown eggs-genetic flaws are out there and I got one-sounds like you do to?? Your girl came from a green egg I assume but its what colored egg the daddy came from that will tell the tale. If He came from a colored egg and momma came from a colored egg-genetically you should get your colored egg-but if daddy came from a brown egg and momma laid the colored egg that hatched your chicks the brown eggs are what you "can" get...

Your split eggs produced very light chicks-the one I bought from you at chicken stock is blue maybe self blue but gorgeous and we LOVE "her"

So am I correct that with the two splits that are light colored from you if I get lucky enough to get a breeding pair their eggs will produce lavs? or are those lavs period and resulting chicks will be pure lavs???

Lynda this is what I was told-the father has to be hatched from a colored egg to carry the gene. So I have TONS of roos hatched out from my OE eggs if you need a real OE rooster???

I have 2 that are the real light blue from them as well..I love the color!! I believe lav on lav = lav...still learning the lav gene just when I think I have it down I manage to confuse myself again...you should see the size ofthe crest one a split ffrom my pen that J and C have ...bird only 10 weeks old and crest is huge!!! Trying to get a large quantity of birds to choose from for shows in the spring..wanta try to hit the shows hard in the spring!! J, C and I were talking during their visit and we want to put a large showing of birds in the nationals next year...so time to start hatching for that now... Wishing my dang tolbunts would start laying!!
