Your split eggs produced very light chicks-the one I bought from you at chicken stock is blue maybe self blue but gorgeous and we LOVE "her"

So am I correct that with the two splits that are light colored from you if I get lucky enough to get a breeding pair their eggs will produce lavs? or are those lavs period and resulting chicks will be pure lavs???

I have 2 that are the real light blue from them as well..I love the color!! I believe lav on lav = lav...still learning the lav gene just when I think I have it down I manage to confuse myself again...you should see the size ofthe crest one a split ffrom my pen that J and C have ...bird only 10 weeks old and crest is huge!!! Trying to get a large quantity of birds to choose from for shows in the spring..wanta try to hit the shows hard in the spring!! J, C and I were talking during their visit and we want to put a large showing of birds in the nationals next year...so time to start hatching for that now... Wishing my dang tolbunts would start laying!!

but your bator is shut off?? you sticking to all the broodies??? They by far, have given me the best hatch rates!

yes pure lav x pure lav = pure lavs..Thats why I was asking I managed to hatch out two chicks from your split eggs-so If I breed them I should get a % of pure lav chicks-when I cross my splits my % is technically 25% but it has been higher.

yep bator is shut off!!! I have about 50ish chicks out in the barn...so I'll see how my broodies do

My water hose to the barn/garage is frozen dang it the time has come to dicconect it! I hate this time of year. Filling up 5 gallon jugs and carrying them down there:-( I went to fill duck pools and wash them down this am and a few drops then that was it! I picked up the hose anf flung it everywhere trying to loosen up the ice in it but to no avail-nothing. I hope it warms up by 20 degrees by noon so I can at least fill a ton of jugs down there and the pools!!!

Yes lav+lav=lav. Can't get anything else from that pairing.

Bob, you talking about Bertha with the huge crest? If so, she is gorgeous! Was poofy from the time she hatched and keeps getting poofier every day.

Poor Bluebell, we moved her into the grow out pen so that we know which eggs are hers and which eggs are from the hen we brought home from Bob's. I'm not sure she is real happy about it, but we're kinda hoping she goes broody in there. Jeremy sat in the grow out pen for like an hour last night, frontlining everyone and picking out which MFD's we are gonna keep. As it looks right now, we are only keeping 1 roo and 3 girls, so we have LOTS to rehome

One of my mottled d'Uccle roos got out last night and I had to chase him around the shop. He screamed bloody murder when I caught him and made the other boys start crowing at 9 at night.

Nat, glad you survived the sleepover. Now, here's to them leaving earlier than 1!

the 2 you hatched from the splits did they have dark striping or a white (ish) stripe?

whitish they never really had a dark stripe if they did it was light tan-mark has the camera in camp with all my photos I took:-( If he comes out this week Ill snag it to show you what they look like now-they look lav with some tan striping on feathers? Which Im pretty sure is just baby fluff and will go away

I gotta get my butt in gear and get pics of the ones we brought home from Bob's up. J took a bunch the other night, but they are still sitting on the camera. My goal is to do them when I get home from work today. The little lav is adorable and the one splash girlie we brought home probably won't be able to see much longer. Her crest and beard are huge and are starting to meet each other, plus the white boy had carpet for feet! It is awesome. He should do pretty well at shows.

Oh, I am so bored...
