Sharpie on Eggs for Eating?

I use sharpie to date eggs because I only have 7 hens and the eggs sometimes get out of hand for just my family of 4. I give eggs as gifts, so I don't want to give OLD eggs. No one has complained about the sharpie marker.
We have 7 hens and 7 people in our family, and it's still so much!! haha

I use pencil to date the eggs. However, I had empty eggshells that I painted and used sharpie on for a decorating contest, and when I broke them apart, no color had come through at all. Look at yours on the inside--has any sharpie come through?
To keep eggs in order, a skelter helps....this one fits in the fridge.

I love the idea of a skelter but what if you have lots of eggs? I don't have counter space so I refrigerate. Would having 2 or 3 take up a lot of room in the fridge?
