Huh. Loud aren't they! For you yanks...they are on different hatch cycles. There are some each year but usually it's a 5-7 hatch. Then thousands hatch all making that sound. The fowl love them. Big & juicy! I'll try to catch one so you can see it better. They do drive a dog nuts.

We specialize in small bugs, like gnats, noseeums and black flies. However, we do raise giant mosquitoes, but in reality they aren’t all that big, most crows are larger.

And that was only about half as loud as it was before it got mauled by the cat and dog...they are extremely loud especially when they get in the house!

No way! That would have crunched and popped and made a big bug gut puddle in the floor.
Sometimes I catch one and throw it in the house on purpose so the cat can play with it. Actually the cat had it first but Mason took it from him.

I had no idea they didn't live north. Shaw & I are used to them. On a bumper year they make so much noise it will make you nuts. And Shaw is right. They are usually louder. Maybe she can catch one. Haven't heard too many here

We have June Bugs but they are quiet.

Y'all know I'm not typically a big fan of bugs. But cicadas are actually pretty cool. They can get really loud, but I cannot imagine summer without hearing them singing up in the trees. It's pretty cool to watch them shed their exoskeleton too.
