I'm so sorry...I lost one. But everyone else made it into the brooder. So 6 stil alive is hopefully my final number.
He was asking you to crack them open for him, silly momma.![]()
I need to come up with a better one for the geese. They'll be to big to dip their bill good in a very short time ... I just used a bowl with Vyxin at that point but... messyI use the quail waterers for all my hatches for at least the first few days. Then with calls, when i switch to the normal size, I add 5 or 6 small rocks, spaced out.
Nice set up!View attachment 1363424 here's my set up now that they are bigger. Covered a kitchen rack with hardwire mesh. . homemade coffee can waterer that makes it deep enough to clear snares. Puppy pad underneath shavings. Works pretty darn well as long as I change it out daily. Keeps them up off of the wet stuff.

I agree...Vetoed!!!!!
That's so cool !!I took a video while candling this evening. In one egg, you can see the bottom of a webbed foot! (around 58 seconds into the video)
I was just quickly checking for movement.
Let us know if it's any different! So I have 15 chicken eggs going into the Hatcher on lockdown today. I'm going to leave the shelf liner out and see if that has any affect on the humidity. I used it with the geese and had trouble with humidity.. so just testing the theory...
Will do.. But I may need to try it with the liner again too just to be sure. One possible factor with the geese was the lid being on in the wrong direction and not tight. I didn't realize it till WV mentioned it..Let us know if it's any different!
I like the shelf liner for purpose if they come out with a bit of open navel they have something soft to rest on. But I wondered if that doesn't block some of the humidity. It's kind of a trade off I guess. Although I have heard some folks dry hatch and don't have problems. . I'm guessing climate has a lot to do with it.Will do.. I have a second set to go in on next Monday so I'll use the liner with those...
Same here.. And the wire seems so uncomfortable to me..lolI like the shelf liner for purpose if they come out with a bit of open navel they have something soft to rest on. The nurture right has a plastic grate but the holes seem fairly large to me Not little squares like the Styrofoam one had. I wondered if the little call duck feet could get stuck in there. I'll probably put the liner in cause of that.Same here.. And the wire seems so uncomfortable to me..lol
Ravyn completely dry hatched her geese, from my understanding, and they did great..so idk..
Yeah.. I've had chicks get toes stuck in the wire grate in mine..The nurture right has a plastic grate but the holes seem fairly large to me Not little squares like the Styrofoam one had. I wondered if the little call duck feet could get stuck in there. I'll probably put the liner in cause of that.
