Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

Hey @duluthralphie check out this cream legbar! Is this a pullet do you think?

I remember someone mentioning they had a frizzle chick. Was that you?

I really cannot tell what that is. I see no barring on the feathers above the thigh. The tail should also show barring if it was 100% legbar.

I understand frizzle messes with the feather structure, but I would think the color pattern of the feathers would be close to recognizable. It looks to me like the shaft/quill of the feathers have a line on them. That is not a Legbar trait.

Also on legbars the color of the hackle and saddle feathers should be the same color and nearly the same shade. This bird is quite different.

I know we discussed frizzle at a board meeting once and as I recall no one has seen a frizzle in a 100% legbar....But as always I could be up to 10% incorrect.

This one is definitely not pure. Just payback for the dux hatred!

I am supposed to have 7 that are purebred though. No clue which they are. Or which are pullets. So I just keep feeding them all hoping it'll become obvious.

All in the same incubator? Are you moving some at hatch time, or staggering together?
They are together for now but I'll be moving them in the next few days for upcoming lockdown on the others. That'll max my nurture right out and I'll have to hand turn them. Think I should move them now and get the humidity up? Can't imagine a few days high will hurt the turkeys.

Hey guys, anyone know how to slow aircell growth other than raise humidity? My other goose eggs are growing way fast. They are day 16 but as big as my day 24s.

How I would equalize the air sacs in waterfowl eggs.....

That's what I was wondering, might not be a bad idea.
I know @Pyxis used tape on those emu eggs, I'm not sure what kind. i guess that could be another option.

I used tape only on the one that was actually a dud, lol. So I'm still not sure if that was actually safe or not for them.
