Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

I wish I had made note of which ducklings of Lexis that got killed. I was so upset that morning, I didn't think about it. Now when I look back at pics, I can't tell what the 2 that are left looked like as babies. :(

I'm going to say dusky Grey.

With my dusky you could still see it had some eyestripes on the face. Apparently I don't have a good picture of it but this was its face:

Looked at the pics of him closer and i dont think he has any. Do all duskys have the eyestrips?

Then I'm wrong, because I thought duskys weren't supposed to have eye stripes. :he

Pyxis, are you sure yours is dusky??

Dusky Mallard (m^d); dusky duckling down pattern varies considerably from the wild-type mallard & restricted mallard above. Dark pigment is extended uniformly over the dorsal surface with no evidence of facial markings & dorsal spots being evident. Ventral surface areas, although lighter, still exhibit colour other than dull yellow, with bill & legs being dark-ish also. As adults, the males in nuptial plumage lack claret breast & neck rings (dark phase), & the speculum (iridescent wing bars) are obscured & less clearly defined. Dusky females (& males in eclipse plumage) lack the eye-stripes, & both sexes are pigmented underwing (dark & light phase).

Well, Phoebe is not giving up on her last 3 eggs. and I can't get to them to candle. She has them about half way from each end of that baby coop any my arms aren't that long.
So my hubby has this thing you can put down a drain or hole with a light and camera on one end, about a 4' long bendable arm, and camera viewer on the hand held end. I'm going to try to candle the eggs with it after dark. Or at least see if I can see air cell or what. I'll have to run her out of there if they are dead.
