Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

if they had a mule with them, then it is a good guess that they were raised with other fowl.... clearly they were interbreeding to make the mule.

Mine ignore the chickens that like trying to sneak into the muscovy nests to lay eggs.

The one summer that I had geese, they HATED and tried to kill the adult geese... but then the geese were trying to kill the muscovy. Not sure why they hated/distrusted each other.

When I had turkeys the turkey (had 2, 1 died) was friendly to all.... the muscovy just ignored it.
Interesting interactions. Mine didn't bother my chickens at all that I remember. Nor the other ducks. I think I had calls at that time that flew frequently. So maybe they really couldn't bother the ducks.

My Muscovy's don't even act like the Runners and Buffs are here most of the time. My Muscovy drake never pays a bit of attention to the Runner drake or ever goes after the girls. He is completely attached to his 4 female Muscovy. If I had of know it was going to be this way I would have gotten Runners and Buffs a long time ago. Now if I had brought in another scovy drake that would have been totally different. Been there done that.

Thanks! I really do love them :)

Here's my oldest baby from this year:

Yep, I have a flock.

If they are raised separately, (so Muscovy know that they are Muscovy, not chickens, or calls, or whatever), then I think it works out fine.

I usually keep my Muscovy in their own pen, but last winter I put them in with the chickens and they were fine. Mostly the 2 groups just avoided each other.

My drakes have been great with the females and the ducklings.
Thanks Al.. Im considering them bit not till next year.. unless i come across a good deal on some..
Ouch!

If i started with ducklings and raised them with my other birds do you think they would do ok?
:love Eeeeeeeeee!
