Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

I can see it sticking out. But can’t tell if it’s bending out away from the body, or if it’s just how he is holding it.

You have some really really cute ducks. I love Malibu and her dark bill.

It’s been stuck out like that for a couple days now. :(

And thank you! She is one super protective momma duck!

I think maybe it’s just a growth thing, I hope. Tell me this doesn’t look like angel wing yet. I haven’t had this with Calls yet. :hmm

Ugh. I hope it isn't. They are such a pain to wrap being so small. My Angel wing duck had hers sticking straight up. So maybe yours won't be. Or if it is it may just be slight Angel wing and not look too bad.
My girl is in molt right now I was going to try and fix her.. .but we changed our minds. It's so hot outside I would almost have to bring her inside. .and I don't wanna separate her from the flock she is so sweet and nice to all of them she gets shoved around as is. . I would hate to have her bullied after an absence. She is here to stay and we don't care if she is perfect or not so we are just going to leave her be. :)

So pretty! I hope drako looks like that when he's done growing new feathers!

Oh. . and omg. . I think I heard that gimpy duck trying to quack tonight!
It was lower pitched than the others so idk. But it sure did sound like a quack sound. Maybe I'm hearing things . .I could've swore he had a Drake feather the other day and I was wrong :lau
Maybe I'm losing it.

He won't like it, but you could wrap the leg in vet wrap and then also wrap the vet wrap around his body to pin it up to his stomach so he can't use it. Then he'd have to be in the kennel because of course he definitely couldn't get around well like that. But it would keep the leg immobilized and give it time to heal if it is an injury.
Good idea... a support bandage We use them on horses for tendon issues

I don't think I could catch that duckling without causing major uproar with all the others. So I'm going to watch it for a few more days before I do anything.

Is gimpy duck molting at all? Its so odd, Bonkers is in full regular plumage, I think he must have had a very light early juvenile molt. But the dusky grey (I think I've named Earl Grey lol) is having a heavier juvenile molt, looks ragged, and still no drake feather. Only 11 days younger than Bonkers.
And I keep getting Jax confused with the young blue fawn female, its so funny. I was looking at her, thinking it was Jax, and she let out a big QUACK and I about dropped my coffee cup! LOL

Something else just occurred to me.... Squirt isn't showing any signs of molting either, and they are the 2 that I hatched inside and brooded inside for their first couple of weeks. The others were hatched outside. I wonder if that has anything to do with anything.

No signs of molt yet for the gimpy one or other two of Jane s.
I haven't tried to wrap him up yet. . I'm probably going to need help. Maybe this evening when hubby gets home.
And I'm kind of worried about having him outside with a wrap on him in the heat. . probably would have to bring him inside wouldn't you think? It's in the 90s.

They change So much so fast. . every time my mom comes over she likes to guess who is who. . and usually gets it all wrong.
If I wasn't looking at them every day I would not be able to tell them all apart either. Hubby thought Sofie was Ralphie the other day and asked me what was wrong with him :lau

Im not gonna worry with my girl witj angel wing either. It doesnt seem to bother her and shes kinda nutty when I've tried to get ahold of her...

Well. . I wrapped the leg to itself yesterday evening. Couldn't for the life of me get a wrap around it's body. Even with help. I don't know exactly what I'm doing. . tried under the wings and then over. When I put it under it got it off in 2 seconds flat. When I went over it stressed him out so bad if was panting and crying and acting like he was gonna die. I couldn't leave him like that. So I settled for taping the leg up in a bent sling position so he can't put weight on it. He tries to hop around on the one foot. . but mostly lays down. Gonna go get some children's ibuprofen here in a little bit. My biggest concern is him hurting his other leg trying to hop around :(
I feel bad for him he thinks I live just to torture him.
And as I keep saying him. . .I'm starting to this it might be a she.
