Hmm.. idk. This is only my second go with goose eggs. And I've not ever had problems with wonky air cells...I have geese in too. I set a dozen Saturday night. I'm not turning yet as the aircells are beat up. How long do you think till I should lay them down? I asked in the goose forum but no replies.
It's a bit frustrating because so many answers are floating around. I've seen everything from 8 hours to 3 days! Maybe I'll lay them down tonight at 48 hours if no one has a better idea.Hmm.. idk. This is only my second go with goose eggs. And I've not ever had problems with wonky air cells...![]()

Some are jiggly but I'm not really certain if any are fully detached. Thick shells. Lay down now and maybe check for detached ones tonight? Hopefully I could spot them by now.Lay them down immediately. I never do goose eggs upright, they don't do well that way and it slows the growth of their chorio-allantoic membrane. It's very important that that membrane grows well for geese since the embryos need a lot of oxygen. If it doesn't achieve proper growth the embryos end up dying late in incubation.
Saddled air cells really aren't that bad anyway, they just look a little wonkyIt's detached air cells that are an issue.

I’m on day 23 and I candled today, my mallards are looking like they are on day 26 according to the chartView attachment 1294015 is this fairly close accurate for calls too?
On the 26Th day should it look more like the egg in the pic that says 28?
Detached would be really obvious because they would freely float around the shell. If you tilted it so that the egg was fat end down, for example, a detached air cell would float right to the pointy end of the egg.
