Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

Oh ya. . Caesar is his name.
Poor little gooseies. :hit

Yeah :hit

Well, in better news, the ducklings moved to a larger brooder today and Juno is rooming with them. She is eating and drinking well, I got the wound cleaned, and gave her a dose of enrofloxacin, just in case. I think she'll be fine :)

I had to bring Juno gosling back inside today. The storm last night knocked some netting and fencing down, and the grow out pen that they were in is missing several birds. Two of the gosling were outside it and dead :( Also found one dead AC. I suspect the others missed suffered the same fate. Not sure what they died from.

Juno had to come back because she somehow skinned her neck, maybe got scared by the storm and got stuck in something, I'm not sure.
:hugs I am so sorry.

Well, I dunno what this is, but I know what it's not and that's silver, lol.

I almost would say she's pastel, but she was light blue all over and had no cap or eye stripe as a baby.

I love that duck. Kind of manages to capture the cuteness without being too sugary.

Thanks! That was my goal. I only had Swedish at the time, if i had had calls, I may have had it done a little more round. :D

In duck news today. . . all three of Sofie ducks babes are drakes as I suspected.
This week they got their man voices.
Who is going to want a zombie eye drake :he
And I'm not letting go of the blue one.
Guess I'll try and wait till Janes babies are a bit bigger and maybe I'll get a girl from them. There are three of them all blue fawn. They are so cute!

I was listening to mine yesterday and had decided that my dusky grey was a male, but I swear he was trying to get a quack out. It was like half quack, half rasp. But I guess it’s wishful thinking.

I've been able to handle all the other duckling deaths really well I just know it's going to happen from time to time. . bummed yes but not really upset. Boy that one got to me! Tears were involved. And I'm not a cryer.
I cried when i dropped that one chick egg and it didnt make it. Oh i was so mad at myself! :rant

View attachment 1445917 View attachment 1445919 View attachment 1445920 View attachment 1445921 still a sock baby. :p
She is going to be so devastated I'm afraid when I have to put her outside. :( she starts crying if I haven't taken her in by the time it starts getting dark. Unless I'm holding her of course :gig
:love:love:love:love:love
I have been amazed at how clean She keeps her brooder. Most of the poo is always in the opposite corner from the food. I've used a cool whip container with a piece cut out of the lid for water and there is just a little wetness right in front of it but nothing major. It helps she is outside most of the day I know, but seriously I've been able to spot clean and not have to empty the entire thing every day. She can sleep inside until it starts smelling.. .:p then I will have to evict her.
My two are super messy. :sick
But im using a different waterer so im hoping the mess is less! :fl:lau

Im glad she's ok and the emus and Cesar are too!! :love
