Indeed. And Grammy would repeat “Use it up, make do, or do without” which is basically reduce, reuse and recycle nowadays. So Grammy grew up during the Great Depression. Mom grew up during World War II rationing, I grew up during the rationing in the 1970s, and now we have supply chain disruptions. I really think history has a way of repeating itself. My opinion is that chickenkeeping is an American necessity and hope more people try it.

I don't really have anything to add to this conversation, my mom was a fantastic cook. We never had to eat government cheese, canned meat, raccoon, bloody macaroni or anything weird mixed with jello.

I had to google this jello and shrimp mess, and believe it or not it wasn't just JC's grammy that made this dish, although apparently it is normally made with lemon jello.
