Maybe when better days came along, she was so traumatized by having to run an austere household, that she couldn’t give it up? She hated canned tuna for similar reasons. I tried to fix her lunch and bake cookies, and she would have none of it

Oh this brought back the memories of one of my Birth Mothers favorite devices of torture.
