Hi all, thanks so much for the add!!

I have been watching for years but just never joined, so here i am.:ya:ya

I have had a few backyard chickens almost my entire life, and currently have 3 which are older ladies rescued from a battery farm.
I am thinking of getting some fertile eggs to hatch my own chickies so my granddaughters can watch their progress, but am unable to have a rooster in suburbia.
I am currently trying to build a new coop, so have been silently stealing all your wonderful idea's , so thank you all :D:D:D

Welcome Aboard! I did the same thing you did ... lurked for ages before getting brave enough (or, in my case, feeling guilty enough!) to actually join in. Best chicken-keeping decision I've ever made, though, 'cause there's so much more to learn when you can actively ask questions. So, ask away ... and share your own experiences, too. This is a great community and we're glad you've joined!

Welcome to BYC! Hope you have fun adventures. If you are unable to have the male species then would not get hatching eggs as roosters are difficult to rehome or sell unless you are prepared to cull to the pot. Purchasing all female one day olds or started pullets is a better plan. Watching them grow is just as much fun. :welcome

Thank you MROO, once i work out how to use the site properly, i have plenty of lurking to do.

Oh wow, yes of course, i didnt think of that, thank you.
 
I lurked for 8 mos. before joining BYC. I barely knew how to use a computer other than for deleting and sending emails. Plus I couldn't believe all this great stuff at BYC was free with no strings attached. BYC is the REAL deal.
