Excellent question.

To me they are fully feathered looking so 3.5 weeks is a giant question mark.

Mine are not that feathered until about 5+ weeks.
I thought they where almost fully feathered to! Least I'm not over thinking it!
Either way I think they have beautiful fullness in my new chicken eyes lol

Then i would still say its a boy.
Or something could possible be wrong with the smaller one...
may not be growing properly?

She does not look like a boy yet.
Feathering rate is similar, combs are similar, size is the only difference......hmmmmm

Still a bit young but I think both are female.
The size difference is dramatic. All the males I have ever had did not grow that differently from the females.

Weird possibility.... The small one is bantam perhaps??
I have to say that we got 2 other after these two one a couple days later and the biggest one took to her right away almost like protecting her! And then about a week ago I got a baby Easter egg one and I didn't want to put her in with the bigger ones because she was so tiny! But she just cried nonstop so I put her In and the big one was yet again like a "mother hen" making sure she was ok! Even cuddled up to her when sleeping! I'm not sure if roosters have this type of temperament!

I am new to this and by no means an expert, but she looks very similar to my ISA brown pullets. Based on the way you describe her, I would probably say a hen or gender-confused rooster..
She's very nice looking. Sounds like a very good temperament too, either way. That's a cute group photo.

So after doing some research on aging her chick looks to be about 8 weeks And the other one about 7 weeks so this could explain it. Thank you guys soo much!

From what I see right now I'd guess this chick was a pullet. The size difference could be the actual age of this particular bird might be older, genetics, or the other bird is stunted. This big chick turned out to be a pullet. The tiny one turned out to be a cockerel.
