Maybe you should see if there's another denomination that wants her

signed a Mennonite girl

Oh, Katy! All those beautiful chickens you have, and you're Mennonite, too? I'm going to be guilty of stereotyping here, for just a moment - but if you have the recipe (because, obviously, all Mennonites cook exactly the same, duh!) for those most-fabulous-ever cinnamon rolls I grew up eating, the ones with the thick wonderful goopy filling and the amazing diabetes-inducing frosting, the ones that Cinnabon would love to be able to make - then it will be official - you'll be my favorite person evuh.

Meanwhile, I'll content myself to lusting after your SLW and LavOrps. Mostly. And hoping for the cinnamon bun recipe. But mostly adoring your birds, and watching for you to auction.

(no offense meant, it's just that cinnamon rolls are the first thing I think of whenever I hear "Mennonite")

I know a lot of Mennonites who can't bake decent bread

No one generally complains about mine tho..... Here's a link to my sticky buns. If you don't want the "sticky" part you can skip the caramel ingrediants in the bottom of the pan and just frost them.

Sounds like you have one of these...

Can you imagine if she was 7 feet tall????

Thank you, Katy - you're a dear! Of course, with the gross generalizations of any groups, you're going to run into trouble ... and thank you for not taking offense!

I've read the recipe, and I'd be

if I didn't, every once in a great while, have enough sense to keep my mouth shut. Wonder how old my yeast packets are? It's a stormy day ... nice for baking!

Thank you!

Back to the OP: Thanks for putting up with my digression there! So far I've only had to part with roosters who were in surplus, not with anyone with a nasty disposition. I don't envy you having to make that choice, but I don't blame you either!

Katy If I offended you I am sorry. We took her to them because they said to. We do all of our business with them. When we have to many roosters we give them to them. They love them. Once again I am sorry if I did offend you.

See, now, when I read that the Mennonites could take her, I assumed that the Mennonites in that location would be at the auction every week buying chickens for dinner.

I've often seen them at the auction in the Willamette Valley buying live animals for food.

A lot of people won't do any butchering. They get their meat from the super market. I just assumed that the OP meant that the hen was going into somebody's stew pot, and the locals who buy live chicken dinner in her location are the Mennonites. Some of us have Oriental populations that buy live chickens and some of us have Hispanic neighbors who buy live chicken dinners.

I didn't assume that there was some strange reason that Mennonites loved to have evil hens in their flocks.

Thanks for the sticky bun recipe.

The Menonites where I live own the feed store. Where we buy all of our animal food. I guess I did not word my original post correctly. I meant the hen was evil. We always take any chickens we do not want to them. They in turn sell them. It works out good for everyone involved. We go to them because they are really awesome. Fair prices and always really nice. If I offended anyone I am really sorry. That was never my intention.

i just rehomed two pullets today.i just could not deal with them anymore.the RIR would peck spur and even mate this sweet little hen.and the barred rock would peck and bite me every chance she got.so they both had to go.
