WELL, THIS WEEK'S UPDATE: I just candled the eggs again a couple minutes ago...Tomorrow night begins day 14. 5 silkie eggs DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY ALIVE, the Ameraucana eggs I give up trying to candle. LOL. You were right Susan---their shells are thick! But sooooo pretty! And the SG...its alive and well.
And one of my bionic chicken eggs is alive too.
Oh,and this week was finals week for my college classed. I finished my last final (til my birthday in the fall anyways. LOL) yesterday. YAYY! SO HAPPY

I'm so sorry!! I know it hurts a lot! 9 years old, is usually a 4th grader. She's old enough to understand DON'T!
Your parents probably sees her as their little baby. They're not doing her any favors by not making her
accountable for her actions.. You might try to reach her yourself, by explaining to her , that you love her and always will...
But, her actions has killed your special chicks... And it's made you Very Sad and your heart hurts really bad! Pain like she would have , if she lost her favorite ___________, and could never see it again... etc..
You should be able to reach her, on her own level of understanding... Paint her a picture with your words, and kindness!!

That is a bummer all the way around! Sorry you had that happen. Your time, energy, etc. Gone. That's hard.

Your sister should apologize even if she didn't do it intentionally. Your parents should insist on this. And why weren't THEY supervising all of this? To make sure the chicks were okay, to make sure things were set up in a way that wouldn't impact anybody's sleep. It's rough to make rational decisions when you are sleep deprived. Your sister did what she did because she wanted to sleep. If I were the adult in the household, I'd be apologizing, too!

Tonight begins day 24. Im panicking. Nothings happening. I know the humidty rode a little low sometimes..and the temp was lower than I woulda liked (97.9-98.6) but I wouldnt think this would cause NO HATCHES! IM REALLY SCARED! The humidty dropped in there again, adn the temp came up, so I opened it last night and added little water pans all over. The humidty still isnt what I would like. Im rally upset.
I cant hear peeping either, but I also have a brooder full of canadian goslings in the room..so icant hear much of anything.
Should I open the bator and at least see if any are in the aircells? HELP!

I might give it one more day, if the temps were low that might delay them in hatching and like you said you probably can't hear any peeps over the goslings. If, after school tomorrow, you still haven't heard anything, and no pips I might try checking for air cells and movement then.
