SC needs to get on long enough to give an update on what his eggs are doing or aren't. And not "they are sitting in the bator" either.

Well...I am curious too!

I have a huge problem this morning. I just cleaned my ducks' pool. I throw in some peas as I'm almost finished refilling to give them incentive to get in. So they finally all 4 pile in while I finish filling. I step back to watch, and they all start tag-teaming one of the ducks!! Early on, I thought I had 2 drakes and 2 ducks. Then I thought I only had 1 drake and 3 ducks, because only 1 tail had curled. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a drake feather on one that I had presumed was female. Then another! I noticed the last couple of days that the one girl was staying more to herself. But I believe it has now been confirmed. 3 drakes, one duck. OMG what am I gonna do??? They will wear her out!!

Uh oh!!!! U would either get a couple more Hen or....be making crispy duck for dinner!!'! Lol!!!

You gotta do better than that!

3:1? I had 8:2 for a long time. Three of the guys hung out together, then another three, then two and the two females. The males occasionally tried to mount eachother, but no one was hurt or anything. Finally got rid of all the drakes once my ducklings hatched. Keep an eye on the lady. Separate her some of her feathers start to look worn.

Thanks. I'll definitely keep an eye on her.

Now that sounds like what my hubby will say!! LOL!! I might get more girls, or take the 2 boys to my camp now, and keep a pair at home. I don't know!

@WVduckchick are any of your ducks quacking? I have 4 Calls from my first hatch... thought I had 2:2, then 3:1... but no... all 4 are drakes, lol... 3 got their drake feathers quick but the 4th took 2 months longer...

They are 19 weeks. I hatched them all. One started quacking very early, Opie. I was "sure" she was female. Then another quacker, Juice. Tiggy and Chibs were quiet for a long time, but then Chibs started getting freckles on his bill, and I read that was a definite sign of being female. Wrong. Tiggy developed his drake feather several weeks ago. Then Chibs started developing one, 2-3 weeks ago, but I was hoping it was just the weather or something. Girls can have curly feathers too... And Opie got quiet a few weeks ago, and I hadn't noticed any feminine quacking, then the drake feather pops up last week. Today was the first I had seen of any mating.... so to answer your actual question, Juice is the only one quacking now.

My neighbor is like the epitome of what not to do with animals. He prefers males to females, so all of the different species and pens have more males then females. With the call ducks there are 2 drakes, 1 female and they all seem ok in that enclosure. But the bigger ducks have bare necks and the hens have complete bare backs. So I think it depends. Keep an eye on her and maybe get another female or two.

Ugh... sounds way too familiar... :/
My next hatch I only got one to make it to pip... luckily she's a girl... unfortunately, she's my only girl, lol... she stays in the house for now, when she goes out on the deck the boys circle it nonstop...
Just watch out for Juice...
