She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I use the purina flock raiser when the chicks are 8 weeks and the poults 12 weeks. I added the oyster shell separately in with the girls. I feel the extra protein helps them the feather out in the 1st 2 months. Has anyone tried the nutrena all flock feed? If so how does it compare to the purina. I have a feed store that is much closer than tsc that sells it.

While we are on the feed topic, does anyone use the organic feed that costs twice as much? Is there that big of a difference, or is it just for the communists that are against shaving their legs?
I thought about it but I would have to charge $5 a doz to break even or to give the boys $10 each a month after all the work. Besides that I get feed from a mil and I asked the buy about it. He said it's "certified organic" which may not mean what you think it means. I asked him about non-gmo. He said that unless you pay $75 per 50lb bag for spelt or some other old old grain, all of the stuff we use is gmo. He said they have been messing with wheat, corn, barley, soy, etc since the 60's and it all has some level of GMO to it even if the grower doesn't know it. He says it's a running joke in the grain business when folks claim to have GMO free crops.

Also, I hear a lot of folks say they changed feed and egg production stopped. It's not from the new feed it's because your birds are not used to it. You can put them on the best feed in the world and if you change it all in one day they will probably stop laying until their body adjusts.

This is exactly what I needed Walnut! You're the best. I wish I could give you two ovations. (I'm not out of them

Me too! I have 5 cockerels that need to be soup. They are starting to crow and that is making the two older ones crow a lot. I'm in a neighborhood and I'm already pushing it with the older two.

I use Scratch N Peck no corn, no soy, non GMO grower. I'm not a communist, I'm more of a socialist, but I do shave my legs.

I couldn't get $5/dozen selling in my yard, but you see the communists paying $9 for a half dozen at Whole Foods for "organic". If it didn't violate my philosophy to pay $18/dozen for eggs, I would love to crack those beside mine and see which looked better

Ok, so seriously, why the organic feed. Is it just the "organic" thing? Maybe it's just me, but if I have bugs in the garden, I'm gonna Ortho the crap out of them.

Thanks for shaving your legs, BTW. It's not like we're frogs...

Doubt they are communists either, just wealthy and chickenless. Yours probably taste the same.
