Candling addiction? When I have eggs in the bator, the first thing I do as soon as everyone else is out of the house... or has gone to bed for the night, is grab a few eggs and sneak into the bathroom to candle them. Just a few. After all, if no one sees me do it, and I don't candle the same ones over and over, it hardly counts, right??? Besides, it's educational. Start at day 3, doing a comparison between incubated and non incubated eggs to see if signs of life can be detected.

I use copper sulfate... got this advice directly from ozexpat... TSC doesn't carry it, but some co-ops do, otherwise you can get it from jefferspet.com...


Instructions on package are stronger than you want... I mix 1lb pkge in 2 gallons of water for stock solution then add 1/8 to 1/4 ounces of solution to every gallon of drinking water... works in plastic standing waterers and in pvc lines... stains and has a bit of residue, but no algae, mold or slime and healthier... oz swears by it and so do I...

Oh, and I use the super bright flashlight app on my smartphone for candling... works great!

I am almost ready to quit again (last time cold turkey for 18 months). But wont until school starts, not fair to the kids if I am bitchy all day from nicotine withdrawals lol.

Aww thanks. He won't hold still for good pics outside. I just took a few decent ones, but too late. I got lucky with that one in my kitchen haha. There are some awesome photos for the calendar, so I dont expect anything. I just couldn't help but submit it. And you helped name him!

so after reading this I feel that I my be one of the truly organic farmers. just need to expand my crop size I've totally chemical free for many years . I must confess I do use brush killer applied with a foam brush straight to cut bushes and poison ivy which I'm very allergic to and so is my son. but never in or near my gardens and I have sunflowers ten feet tall the corn the storm blew over stood back up.

SC already thinks I'm an unstable emotional "w"itch, that would only confirm it for him....lol especially when pms came around!!!

I'd have to take a week break for sure and lock myself in my room. Definitely would have to have a school vaca...lol

they will go for $2000.00 easy each. cattle are higher than I've ever seen them and there are so nice. what I used to sell for800 now goes for 1800 It's crazy . and I don't have a cow

O.k I really did just candle for day 14. I had 3 eggs with? From the last candling, i can see excellent growth on both. The 3rd is a fbcm and looks a bit odd compared to the others. I can't really see much in the egg. So I am keeping it in. As far as I am concerned we have an amazing 19/19 developing embryos on shipped eggs! I am so excited, my husband is about to send for the crew in white coats to take me away. @RavynFallen Bloody marvelous!
