She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

This website says that is a myth:

15. Myth: Skunks cannot spray unless their back feet are on the ground. (Fact: Because skunks rarely spray, this is how these myths were determined. A skunk can spray when the tail is held down or under, when it is doing a handstand (especially in the case of a spotted skunk), and when being hung by their tail. They simply choose not to most of the time.)

Since I found it on the internet, it must be true...
You test that & give us a report...I'll stand back about 50 yds. & watch

SC, me thinks it's time for a new experiment here. Since you raised the hypothesis, I think you should be the one to prove or dis-prove the theory. You could either manually hold down said skunk's tail, or sneak up behind him with a roll of duct tape. I'll be standing by to take photos for proof of the experiment. I have a telephoto lens.
I wouldn't go so far as to call it a hypothesis, it was more of a question

I would just shoot it anyway. Since Amylynn and Ruby are both so kind hearted, and both live in that godless NY, I think they should test the hypothesis

Also, be sure to borrow someone else's truck.

It's a styrofoam incubator, right?  Easy solution.  Got a sharp pencil?  Poke a new vent hole.  Or use a drill.  I'm always adding new vent holes to my home made bator.  Sometimes for air flow, sometimes for a temp probe.  If I don't like the location of a hole I've made, I just patch it with an ear plug or a piece of duct tape.  Red neck solution, but it works for me, as my neck is kind of red... just a little bit!

K, mines got several smaller holes all around the top already so should I just leave it be?

Bend the wire
I don't think they are talking about that kind of wire.

Megan: Are you talking about the probe wire? You can get a fine ga. piece of "bendy" wire, and wrap that around, or tape it to the probe wire, then you can more easily put the probe where you want it. As far as the # of holes in your bator, I have no idea what is the recommended placement for holes, or how much "surface area" your holes should amount to. My bator is home made, so if I feel like making a hole, I make a hole. I don't sweat the details!

It's got like 8 smaller holes, about 1/2 to 2/3's the size that a standard pencil would make, in the top around the windows plus a couple extra holes a bit smaller than the others that I'm guessing were made by a metal thermo probe, like a meat thermo. Do y'all think those and the 1 big vent hole will be enough ventilation?
