She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Any bird does have a drowning risk...
All of these game-y types can imprint and that makes them more difficult in the long run. I love my ducks, ive considered calls though because of space conservation

Yea id rather go thru w the process myself . Friend, ur basically payin em to take em!
Oh, I know, but Mrs. Flock is still a little tentative eating the yard birds

And it Grew buddy, it definitly grew! The coop design was much smaller before renovations started!
You should see before and afters of my back yard.

That coop was walled in and converted to a silkie coop when I bought so many layers that it was too small to work any more. Mrs. Flock wanted silkies. That's when our fascination with the different breeds began. 4 years later we have 7 coops and pens, and around 130 chickens depending on what day it is

I wanna hatch Lady Grey's babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're not the only one! lol... sounds like I'm pimping her out...

Can you elaborate on the burrito pack?

Burrito packing eggs is a strip of bubble wrap, tape the ends together on 1 end to make pocket and roll egg up in it and tape... set them big end up close together... maybe @chicapee has a pic of the eggs I sent her to show you??

:weee :weee :weee :weee

Went outside this morning and noticed an egg in the duck pen.  Then found another behind a boulder.  Yeah!!  Juice is laying!!!   Nice big hard eggs too!

:celebrate :celebrate :celebrate :celebrate                    :yesss:

:woot 1st egg!!!!! Juice is pretty!!!

I have a question about this quail egg. One more hour will be 12 hours since initial external pip. He's made no progress. There's not even a hole yet, just the crack so I can't see the guy. I know he could be resting but unfortunately due to the circumstances, he's on a time crunch. Is it horrible to take the egg out and make sure he's still alive? I don't want to keep waiting if there's no point. Would I hear peeping or any other indication he's alive, if I took it out for a sec?? Would it make him shrink wrap?

Ignore it or kick it out... free egg or $$$ eggs??? Just gotta go with what's more important...

Too much i wanted to rely to, i had to quote u.

Thats the first time ive been invited to the shipathon :weeee im hoping to offer my cajuga eggs :) and turkey, but these are only to who wants em! I have texan A&M quail that Ruby and AmyL might be interested in :D my chicken breeds are so mixed up idk whats gna happen by spring, i still havent gotten a handle on which breed im gonna mess with. So many to play with...

of course u guys have taught me i Can incubate vertically But i have All This Room ;)

Whenever possible, duck eggs incubate way better laying on their sides... something about egg and body shape being different than chickens... I always lay mine down...

I haven't been invited to the Shipathon...

I finally set eggs again last night. 19 possible OE. From my Marans roo x EE/Leghorn mix. They have pea combs so I'm hoping the chicks have the olive egg (blue) gene. I added a fan to my bator so we will have to see how that goes. Can't wait for my Brinsea Spot Check to get here.

ETA: Since the mama is half leghorn the chicks could get the white egg gene right? All the eggs in the bator are light blue.

*I think* you'll get closer to 25% with blue shell, varying shades of the brown coatings... Punnett square it... since the layer is EE/Leghorn then she's only carrying 1 blue egg gene and the other carries none...

I'm still at the point where I would rather sell them than eat them, but there are always just too many roosters, so at least I have an end point option for them :thumbsup

I agree...

Yeah, the species I heard it about is pure white, whatever that is.

Sounds like the CornishX...

That's an online picture, but my first coop looked exactly liked it. That same coop is now seafoam green, with bubblegum pink shutters on the windows, and curtains :gig
It's fffaaaaaabulousssss

So your brother painted your coop???? :gig

You should see before and afters of my back yard. :gig  That coop was walled in and converted to a silkie coop when I bought so many layers that it was too small to work any more. My OH would commit me. Its been tossed around by the family on a few occasions but it would be deffinat if i tried to keep more than 50.

She has eaten them, but she had a funny look on her face :gig
She would still prefer to stop at Ingles. Pullets sell like wildfire here, but no one wants roosters, so you have to have a backup plan. The best phrase I ever learned was "Tu quieres mas gallos?"

I have some mexicans livin across the st from me ;) how exactly is that pronounced? Just kidding! Kidding kidding... Ive narrowed down these roos pretty heavily already :)

When i have 10-15 drakes though? All bets are off
