She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I swear my brain and my fingers do not work together

I got the impression from him saying "feed store Ameraucanas" that he wanted to know

Look, I called my EEs "ameraucanas" for 3 years before I joined BYC. Just sharing what I have learned

And you meant to say "there it is"

I would absolutely love to have one, have wanted one all my life, but with my work schedule I don't think it would be fair to the dog.
A good friend of mine has been a Malinois breeder for years, and the puppy he has been waiting for from Germany for 4 months should be arriving in the next week or two. I know yours are shepherds, but I think both of them are just the most beautiful dogs in the world. I run a landfill, and I got to watch one work one day when the police got a tip that a body was in a truck. Turns out the body wasn't there, they found him later, but watching that dog work was amazing. They way he followed hand signals, and how thourough he was in his search. They are just magnificent dogs.

I appreciate the tip about over filling the feeders. I had planned on only filling about 2 days worth, then refilling when they ate it all, but it is a nice fallback if we want to get out of town for a few days
I have trained mine to do hand signals too. That is too bad you couldn't take one with you. We take ours to work with us but we are self employed which makes it easier. We got Ricky to take to work when working in bad neighborhoods to guard the truck and all the tools and equipment. He does a great job. They do love to be with you. They very rarely stay home. I keep telling myself I don't have empty nest syndrome. Ha Ha. I have filled it up. My youngest Left home to move back to England almost 3 years ago.

Here are my babies coming up on 3 weeks old. I have a feeling they both might be cockerels. They like to fight each other esp the Hmong. But the Ogye gives up pretty quickly so maybe that's a pullet!!!! :fingerscrossed
:fl
Were? But, but... :hit Well, I didn't need to try to get WFBS next year anyway.
And good stock is VERY VERY hard to come by, We had to sell almost all of our birds when I was really sick. But I know where they went in PA ;) Here were ours....:hit
Gorgeous! I really should stop falling in love with rare breeds--I can't have a rooster here, so I can't help build up stock.

I swear my brain and my fingers do not work together...it's true. It seems like half my time is spent editing what my fingers have screwed up. It never used to be that way. Old age sucks...lol

I know exactly what you mean! I have the same problem.

Gorgeous!

I have that problem too... so many beautiful breeds.... Its so hard not to want some of them all!

Hubby is working from home today, so I had him check the bator and 5 are out (the 2 assists, the other GS that was almost finished zipping, and 2 OEGB's) so we're up to 17 hatched!! :jumpy :weee :jumpy
That's great!! To bad you couldn't stay home today and watch!! How is it watching in the 20? Lots of viewing space?
I know what you mean about the risk to youngsters. Mine squirt through the electronet, and are fearless. They've therefore been confined to a 3 x 6 tractor with Mama most of the time. She went to roost last night, and left them on the floor. They weren't at all happy about that. But, she's back with them, and they're all out free ranging this morning. I'm back and forth, in and out. It's miserably hot, so I can't be out for long, but I have a pistol in my pocket, and a shot gun handy as well. DON'T NOBODY MESS WITH MY BABIES!!
It's so hot here too! I go out for 5 minutes and I'm done! Humidity is really high here too. Just nasty.
4 more :celebrate , maybe less depending on how many sebrights you set So sorry about Solo. It's so tough to lose the ones you get attached to. Those little buggers are escape artists. If there is a hole they can fit through, they will find it :he After one day with the Y feeders I am totally sold. That's the only way to go. I will take some more pictures so you can see the full setup, but I have a 3.5ft 3 inch pipe coming out of the top of the Y, with a sewer cleanout with a screw on cap on top. The pipe will hold over twice as much as a ten pound feeder, and should be water tight. I put two side by side in the cuckoo marans, Ams, BCM, and hybrid pens, and there was never any bickering over position. They just ate when they wanted to, and it semed like someone was always at the feeder. They liked it even more once I built the enclosures around them, I guess they felt protected. The only chickens that were wasting any were the BCM. I had one hen that took it upon herself to see how much she could scoop out, so I will be putting the extensions on those that the other poster talked about. They are extremely easy to put together, about 10 minutes for each one. I did all 12 yesterday, and built 5 enclosures. I am very happy with them, and the chickens started eating from them as soon as I moved out of the way. It's going to be so much easier to feed in the dark this winter, since I can just walk around the pens with a bucket of food and a scoop. Two pipes per pen hold enough food for 5 or 6 days, so with my 5 gallon waterers, it will be easier to take a long weekend camping trip :thumbsup
I'd like to see more pics too. I've been wanting to do pvc feeders, so I can pour the food in from the outside of the run and not have to keep going in & out of there.

Wow!! They are really magnificent!
How'd the kids do getting off to their first day of school for the year?
Great!! Thanks for asking!! We took our yearly "first day of school" pics. And they were super excited. I'm happy to get back into the routine and get some time alone, I have the baby but 1 is easier then 3! I've been thinking about them all day though!
me too...lol
Me three!

Oh I wish I wasn't so busy at work, I reallllllly didn't want to leave this morning! But I'm going home early!

And yes, the 20 is very nice viewing! I only wish I had thought about my layout a little better. I drew a little vertical line on each egg when I candled at lockdown to show me which side to lay pointed up, (I didn't circle air cells, and I'll be darned if almost all pipped just to the left of my lines!) but some of my egg numbers ended up on the bottom, and I couldn't tell what was hatching!

Gosh, I have OCD sometimes....

Its flippin hot and humid here too!

I want more pics too!

Glad the kids were excited for school. That always makes it easier on mom, when they actually want to go to school.

Yay for the hatches!

:hugs for FridayYet's loss...

Was busy this weekend then felt like crap yesterday... fighting bad toothache now... sorry for all I missed...

Pretty birds everyone...
