She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Oh my 3 days of posts finally caught up. Congratulations to all the hatches. Best wishes to every one who is in lock down.
I woke up this morning to find the turkeys in with the pullets and a couple of the pullets in the grow out pen. They were just all visiting each other. When I went to put the lo's to bed, they don't go into the coop on there own yet at night. The bigger ones intimidate them a bit. Getting a taste of their own medicine. Any way it was really dark and there is a connecting door between the laying pen to the grow out pen and I didn't latch it properly last night. Needless to say they all made themselves at home. The turkeys didn't want to go back with the juveniles this morning. It was fun getting them to go home. Crazy morning.

Hey chicapee, I got new pics of my LO rooster this morning... what do you think of him?

They still aren't very fluffy, I don't know how to get the crusty stuff off and I didn't know if it's ok to get them wet so I'm letting it wear off.
If you're worried about wry nech, just give him a drop of vites 2 or 3 times a day for a day or 2 and see how he does... you can clean them off with warm water as long as you dry them quick and keep them warm... otherwise, eventually they'll fluff up...
6 external pips 4 while ive been sitting here!!!

Very nice!!! Handsome fella! My views on roosters is quite a bit different... the only really aggressive roo I ever had was one I didn't raise from hatch... and I know it was our fault he became that way... learning how they think and react is key to a peaceful coexistence, I feel... teaching them to fear you can be dangerous in the long run, IMO...

That's so exciting! Your wrong-Enders may still hatch on their own or they may need a little help.

You might want to go to the learning center and read Sally Sunshines article on assisted hatching if you haven't already.

Good luck! Fingers crossed for you.

Narcoleptic Nancy made me think about our "Clint", our rooster who is now about 6 months old...he always seemed to trip over stuff when he was young but I didn't really think a lot about it because he was being hand raised indoors to accompany a sister who was stepped on and had a broken leg.  I'll try to make a long story short...she didn't make it :hit   so we gradually re-introduced "Clint" back into the flock.  Once we decided to start letting him spend his nights in the coop again (mostly because that crazy rooster started crowing at a week old.. .yes I said a week old!), I had to pick him up every evening and put him on the roost and set him down every morning.  That worked itself out within a couple of weeks but I noticed that he ran into stuff a lot and tripped over stuff often! Sometimes he moonwalks as well.  As he got older, he even did his little "rooster dance" (that is normally reserved for a "pretty hen" around me, my husband, my kids...even a basket ball!  He eats and drinks fine (but doesn't forage much from what I've seen), and now gets on and off of the roost at night.  He obviously can see because he attacks our dogs anytime they are close enough so I'm not sure what is "wrong" with him... we just say he is one crazy chicken lol.  He'll probably never be our "best" rooster lol but he's certainly my kids favorite.  He'll let anyone pick him up! He even rides the mower with me on occasion!

And now that I'm thinking about it, I just recently hatched 4 BLRW's and one of those was so clumsy for the first 2 or 3 days, I was sure there was something wrong, a bad leg or something...but she's running around perfectly healthy now!:weee

Best wishes for yours!

Gotta love nature's sense of humor!
