If you're worried about wry nech, just give him a drop of vites 2 or 3 times a day for a day or 2 and see how he does... you can clean them off with warm water as long as you dry them quick and keep them warm... otherwise, eventually they'll fluff up...
Yay!!!!

Glad your ducks are pipping!!

Very nice!!! Handsome fella!

My views on roosters is quite a bit different... the only really aggressive roo I ever had was one I didn't raise from hatch... and I know it was our fault he became that way... learning how they think and react is key to a peaceful coexistence, I feel... teaching them to fear you can be dangerous in the long run, IMO...
I have been using Don's suggestion on roosters and it's worked so far. Picking them up and petting them under the chin. Once a day for a week. Feed them some banana. So far so good.

I do have a banty that weighs 1/2 pound that is trying to fight me. Stinkin cute. Will the others follow his example though?

Awe! Thanks! Im up to 11 externals!!

Nice! My eggs are..... at home and I'm at work.

Don gave great advice for turning aggression around... I just prefer to avoid getting that issue in the first place... is working well for me... :)

Banty roos are a whole different animal, lol... I just ignore that attitude or pick him up and stick him under my arm while I walk around taking care of the rest... seems to work well... no, others usually don't follow their lead, especially if they see him get carried around ingloriously for a while...

Oh, congrats on the hatchings too!! :)

That's what I do with him. Pick him up and carry him around while I work. Deep down, I think he likes it.

They still aren't very fluffy, I don't know how to get the crusty stuff off and I didn't know if it's ok to get them wet so I'm letting it wear off.
Congratulations on your first hatch, Megan!! They are perfect!!!
It's ok, we buried the dead chicks and the other eggs :( I'll just make sure I do everything by the book the next time I get shipped eggs. I'm seriously worried about the Icelandic eggs I'm getting this weekend now. I hope the same thing doesn't happen again. I'm picking them up myself so I'm really hoping the problem this time was because they were shipped. I'm also putting a fan kit in my bator so it'll be forced air for the next batch and I'm hoping that'll make a difference too.
Non-shipped eggs will be a breeze now!!
Congratulations Ruby! Keep us posted.
Congrats on the pips!!! :yesss: Mine is still only internally pipped. But he's a loud mouth. I can hear him and I shined the light in and his beak is right under the shell in the middle of the air cell, so I'm just waiting!!!
6 external pips 4 while ive been sitting here!!!

Don't panic! I had that with my peafowl eggs. Give them at least 24 hours and if they don't progress, just carefully help them zip. PM me if you need any help!
Thank you! I need everyone on board! :-/ ive read Sallys Giude three times today lol! I am armed with a spray bottle in case i have to open the bator alot, but i still havent opened it Once! Im giving them time in expectation of rest right now, but they were movin alot and one was peeping loud, now theyre quite, soooo waiting game?! Idk what to do! I cant believe this hatch! One is also below the air cell but middle of the egg :barnie
