She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

How far were they shipped and how were they packaged? How long did you leave them unturned in the incubator? I've done tons of researched on shipped eggs. Sometimes shipping is just to much damage on a cellular level. I've had great hatches and total busts.

This box was inside another box and was cushioned in that box with air pillows on the sides.
It traveled two days from the same coast I'm on. 6 didn't even begin to develop.
The eggs with poop on them were the quitters...
Left them out for a day to settle 12-18 hrs before bating, then a few days incubating without turning, 2-3 I think.

if they were poppy then the nest conditions were not that great. Packing was good. I wouldn't buy from that seller again. May I ask what coast you are on?

I just had a third one that was the same way. I can't figure out why unless I miscalculated the hatch, because the turner was left on and then I saw pips, I had them marked to hatch starting Friday.

If the turner was still on when they pipped, then that is probably why they were malpositioned... they need the 2-3 days of not turning before pipping to turn around and get into position properly... if the eggs are turning they can't tell which way to turn to... had some eggs from a broody I put in the bator and they were all different dates and several of those ended up malpositioned since I forgot to take them out of the turner...

Yep this one. I did put it away but it's very easy to get it out as its just in one of the spare bedrooms winking at me.

Too true... I'm gonna shut mine down for just a few days to clean it out and will probably be setting again as soon as I collect enough eggs again... :plbb

I'm actually not liking the air packs for shipping eggs... I think it leaves too much space for the inner box to shift too much... jmo though...

Also @RavynFallen not sure how much they wiggled and jiggled in transit but several were scrambled and one was cracked but I swear the way it was cracked I didn't see it til I candles it. Was dirt in the crack once I noticed so it was a crack prior to ship...

I agree... poppy eggs are just bad form... :gig

Seriously, I've never gotten soiled eggs in all the boxes of eggs I've received... and I flat out refuse to send soiled eggs to anyone... most of the issues I've had was the packing... and the Memphis PO hub... I think they keep a paint shaker there just to run my eggs through, lol...

Shipped is always a gamble though... even with best packing ever there are just things that can happen... add on the ages of the flock, health and diet... you just hope that you get the same that you'd send out... only thing you can do is read descriptions fully and read feedback as far back as possible and ask questions... good sellers will take the time to answer your questions...

And if it sounds too good to be true... then it probably is... not always, but a lot of times...

They were not packed well. They needed to be rolled up like a burrito.
