She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

So we should request a blank box? Not even fragile written on it?
My last hatch was horrible. Package was labelled hatching eggs on neon sticky labels and fragile was written all over it. I thought she was very thoughtful. Many didn't develop, another few quit. Total I got 3 chicks.
Suggesting for next ship?

He likes nothing because if there is something on the box everyone at the post office like to cause issues.....so if it was blank they just move it and mess with the boxes labeled fragile or hatching eggs.

I've had great success with double boxed or well insulated and packed, fragile and this end up written on all sides... every single box I've sent in that way has had a great hatch except one and that box was shipped twice... still had a few hatch...

Most boxes going through the PO are mechanically sorted, so most damages are not from the workers but it going through the machines wonky...

400
so far everyone is doing good..total of 4 so far. These are my friends Cochin/ D'Anver crosses, I am hatching them for her as she lives just down the road and doesn't have a bator. I lost 6 before I found the two in trouble and realized what was happening. My Buff Cochin's should start hatching this week too...:)

I'm sorry if I missed it, but why did they need to be assisted?

How far were they shipped and how were they packaged? How long did you leave them unturned in the incubator? I've done tons of researched on shipped eggs. Sometimes shipping is just to much damage on a cellular level. I've had great hatches and total busts.

Hey Ruby, my husband decided to scramble some eggs this afternoon, and guess which ones he decided to use? The carton of silkies!! Lol
I guess I should have told him, or set them aside! So I'm starting over with today's eggs. Got 2 from the silkies so I'll use them, with the others from yesterday. Yesterday's chicken egg lost .1 gram and the duck egg lost .2 grams.

two had to be helped to hatch. The other two came out on their own.

Agreed! There is no way before incubation to check fertility....one egg that looks fertile after checking the yolk may not be fertile for the next egg the hen lays that you incubate.....I honestly think you just have to be lucky and hope for the best!
Sidewing would disagree!!! He has great hatches with shipped eggs with boxes not labeled at all..which means then more than likely the boxes are getting xrayed

If you were responsible for security and someone said FRAGILE don't x-ray this box! what would you do? :)

I recently received some eggs that were marked 'live embryos, do not x-ray.' Is there a way to tell if they were x-rayed??

I'm not sure, but I got some that were not marked with anything but fragile and all the yolks were scrambled except for 4 and 2 of those were clear after 8 days. So I think mine were x-rayed.
