She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Okay, day 7, no bad smells, warm eggs, and this one doesn't look cooked on the inside, but that's about all I can tell. Will someone give me an opinion, please?

Good luck Amy lynn
Thank you.

It looks clear, but I highly recommend candling down into the egg from the top (rounded) end into the egg. By illuminating from the air cell you will see the air cell better and development will be put into a better perspective as well.

K out of the 1st 18, 1 was cracked when I got them, and now there's 9 quitters and another questionable 1, it'll probably quit too. So 7 are still ok so far. The other 12, which were the expensive 1's, no quitters yet, 1 clear and 1 questionable so 10 are ok.

@ Amy Lynn, I did as you suggested and can see an air sack, I had to use the light on my phone so I couldn't get pics, lol. But the light is powerful enough that I was able to candle the bcm and barneys as well. All the dark eggs have a deffinate dark mass and air sack.

Today is not a good day. This stupid storm blew my front door open cause someone didn't close it all the way after they went out and all 3 of my dogs got out and attacked our pot belly pig, luckily she's ok though. Then I candled my eggs and alot of them are quitting on me. God I wish I had never washed them. I just wasn't thinking when I did it. I can't get anymore cause there's no way my husband is going to drive me all the way back up there again. We were on the road all day that day. 1 of the breeders told me they'd replace the eggs but I'm leary about shipped eggs after that last batch and I don't think she's ever shipped eggs before so I don't know if she'd do it right. And the other breeder, which was way more expensive, won't replace them. Especially since it was my fault that they are quitting. So upset right now.

:hugs. Oh no!!!! Just rive the quitters after day 14. Trust me on this...I had one I thought was a quitter and left it in but never turned it....and well let's just say that it made it to lock down ALIVE!!! However it did not survive to pip.

I missed ya! Glad you stopped back in! :frow
You may have washed the nasty eggs, but it wasn't your fault that they were nasty to begin with! They should send you new eggs. Good luck.
And good luck with the wind and rain too! I hope all goes well for everyone with this storm!

We have been super lucky! Barely any rain.

It looks like nothing is in there! Clear egg!

Well that number is still good. Granted it's nice to have all of them make it.

Can you see red veins under the air cell? That dark mass is usually just the yolk. The veins will have a little embryo attached that's usually closer to the air cell on day 7. So look for veining.

:fl for the good ones!!

I'll be happy if I can get 1 roo from 1 of the breeders and 1 hen from the other. Or 2 from both. I'll probably never get a 100% hatch rate but as long as what I get is useful in starting my own flock I'm ok with that.
ETA: Actually if I can get 1 hen and 1 roo to hatch from the expensive eggs, I'll be happy cause the other breeder is fine with replacing her eggs so if hers don't hatch I can start over.

Thanks Amy, I can use all the crossed fingers I can get! I just wish 1 of y'all was here so y'all could tell me what you think. The veining on some of these eggs started out nice and thick and now they look alot thinner, I'm paranoid that they're all quitting.

With BCM eggs all you can really see is a dark mass because the shell color is just too dark to make out veining. I would keep them in and just watch to see if the dark mass grows. That's how I had to do it with my first hatch. One was so dark I could not even see in it. I just left it in until the end. It was DIS fully formed.
