I have 7 years and 11 months left, not that I'm counting...Definitely sounds heavenly. I make a mean peach cobbler! Now I want some dessert!
By the way, I didn't know what a booted bantam was, so I was just googling them. What kind did you hatch? How soon do the feathers grow on their legs? I want to hatch some bantams, but still debating exactly what. I'm enjoying the 2 little silkies that I bought. I have a text out to a guy who has several bantam breed hatching eggs, waiting to hear what he has.
eta - if I have a stroke before I'm 50, it will have to be in the next 2 months! I'm almost there...
I called my booted bantams d'uccle for a year after I bought them, but the more I read the more I'm afraid to call them d'uccle. They are bearded, but the males' combs and wattles are much larger than what I have learned is acceptable for SQ d'uccle, so I advertise them as booted bantams. Most people probably wouldn't know the difference, but I wouldn't want to sell them as d'uccle then have someone get DQed trying to show them and blame me. I don't want to get a bad reputation. They are beautiful birds, and awesome pets. I started with a mille fleur hen and a mixed rooster, and they are throwing mille fleur and black mottled. They give the polish a run for the cutest babies. They are hatched with the feathers on their feet, and the rooster's grow astonishingly long
