She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Update on my hatch, all 11 are still doing good, the air cells are getting bigger, they're still not where they should be for what day it is though. No internal pips yet so I'm hoping the cells will be a good size when they finally do that. Day 21 is late Sunday, early Monday so I still have a couple days to go.

Final hatching report..  Third egg was DIS:hit Looks like he made it to about day 19.  I went Red too late:( but then I wouldn't have known what to do anyways:idunno   The other two are now in my bathtub with their Momma heating pad.  Thank you all for your help!

I have more Lavender Orpington eggs that arrived yesterday and some Jubilee Orpington eggs that I will be setting soon:fl

Did the third egg internally pip? It's common for shipped eggs to die in lockdown. So you did a great job with the two you got? How's the little ones foot doing? Good luck in the new sets.

Are you still running dry? Another 24 hours and hopefully they will be good to lockdown :fl for a great hatch!

The humidity is at 27% right now, do you think that's ok?

Well, depending on these chicks, you may get a couple!! Lol!
LOL. Not a problem...lol

I believe a frazzle is an upset frizzle

LOL

It's similar to the Araucana tufting gene, but non-lethal... although it is looked at by reputable breeders as being poor animal husbandry to knowingly breed for frazzles... thus why your Silkies have Sizzle genes, they breed Sizzle to Silkie to get some of each and Frizzle to Smooth feathered for same... I think Frizzle to Frizzle is 25% smooth, 50% Frizzle and 25% Frazzle... or something like that... Frazzle feathers break super easy, like just picking them up... and they can't regulate their body heat at all...

If you breed a frizzle to frizzle and get a frazzle does that mean if you breed sizzle to sizzle do you get a sazzle???

Sorry to hear that.

I would say yes. Since you're trying to grow the air cells in a short time. The one batch of peas I had, humidity had been high all of July and I found some stuff to pull moisture out of the incubator and ran 20% for a few days and it worked perfectly.

The third egg did not internally pip. It's head was tucked underneath it's wing. Thank you. It's just so sad for the little one to have come this far and then not make it. The little ones foot is still bandaided flat. How long should I leave it on?

Sorry to hear that.
Thank you.

I believe I saw that post about your "cross breed"... if I'm thinking of the right one, you handled it very well.  :thumbsup

And that little frizzle is adorable!

Thank you! Yes, I think you did see that. Glad you think I handled it well, I was afraid I seemed maybe a little overzealous, lol.

That's my moms name! :) What was the breed that was referred to as a cross breed?

Well you better tell her there's a frizzle somewhere that has her same name, lol. Hopes she likes chickens and doesn't take that the wrong way! The breed was ayam cemani. Very new to the US are very rare, and even though the vast majority of people have never seen them in real life let alone bred them, some will try to tell you all about them. Looks like Ravyn already answered this for you though, I just saw :)

Oh, I saw later that you said someone on the NY chicken lover board breeds them. That would be me - and now Purpletie, she bought some eggs and chicks from me and is getting started.

OMG, I LOVE AC's!! I've wanted some ever since I saw them, that was a while back, but I cant afford what most breeders ask for a dozen eggs, lol. I've read up on them so much though, they are the coolest looking chickens. There was a breeder putting AC eggs up for auction on ebay the last time I looked on there and some of them went pretty cheap from lack of bidders but most of them got up in the hundreds of dollars before the auction ended.

They are really beautiful! You have to be careful on eBay, there are one or two sellers who may be legitimate, but a lot of them are scammers. There is one in particular who will sell eggs to people, and when they hatch half will have chipmunk stripes! Then they will tell their buyers that these are 'wild type' cemanis. There is no such thing. And they get away with it and eBay removes any negative feedback left about this due to some kind of loophole. We've had quite a few people scammed like this come and ask about it in the AC thread.

Yeah, that's why I haven't bid on any of them, I don't trust very many egg sellers on ebay. I got some Welsummer eggs from eBay but since they aren't rare and I only paid $12 after shipping I wasn't really worried about whether they were purebred or not, lol. But the AC's, I love those, that has got to be the coolest bird ever, lol, and yours are soooo beautiful, I saw some pics on another thread. I'm hoping 1 day I can get a dozen eggs or so but it'll be a while before I can convince my husband to spend that much on eggs, lol. I would spend it in a heartbeat but he's a little harder to convince ;)

I wish I could find someone that would trade some AC eggs for another breed of eggs plus cash. I doubt I'll find anyone that'll want to do that though, lol.
