Thank you! Yes, I think you did see that. Glad you think I handled it well, I was afraid I seemed maybe a little overzealous, lol.
Well you better tell her there's a frizzle somewhere that has her same name, lol. Hopes she likes chickens and doesn't take that the wrong way! The breed was ayam cemani. Very new to the US are very rare, and even though the vast majority of people have never seen them in real life let alone bred them, some will try to tell you all about them. Looks like Ravyn already answered this for you though, I just saw
Oh, I saw later that you said someone on the NY chicken lover board breeds them. That would be me - and now Purpletie, she bought some eggs and chicks from me and is getting started.
They are really beautiful! You have to be careful on eBay, there are one or two sellers who may be legitimate, but a lot of them are scammers. There is one in particular who will sell eggs to people, and when they hatch half will have chipmunk stripes! Then they will tell their buyers that these are 'wild type' cemanis. There is no such thing. And they get away with it and eBay removes any negative feedback left about this due to some kind of loophole. We've had quite a few people scammed like this come and ask about it in the AC thread.
