I'm pretty sure that the last time I actually had an alcoholic beverage was in 2006, and it was only a strawberry daquiry....lol

Mine have gotten like that, plus more and more are letting themselves out at will...lol  I've noticed in the last week my June hatched chicks are doing the same thing. They were all out there today and I watched two different pairs of girls chest bump and challenge each other just like the boys. At one point one of the girls even challenged the cockerel...lol

lmao... my pullets will challenge cockerels... my hens will beat the tar outta cockerels...

Is not the cocks who rule around here!!

They are 19ish weeks. I will be so disappointed if she's not a girl! The head cockerel is always trying to mate her so....

I hope she is ok and just a cry baby!!
Trust me, I worry about that too. And it really stinks because he's a super nice guy (and my landlord) and he's right next door, so we always talk "chickens or peacocks or ducks" but we are night and day with how we care for our animals. I want to rescue every breathing thing over there! It would be so nice if he was like a byc person, do you know what I mean? And that's a great idea about the box. I'm using my MHP for the first time right now and they all finally just went under for bed! I had to turn down the temp a bit, all day they wouldn't go near it. I'm happy they went under. I really like the idea of the mph but my personal experience has been if I set it up right after hatch, they go under and don't come out to learn to eat or drink. So I took it out for the first few days (and got lazy and just set it back up today...2 weeks later).
I will get some pics tomorrow for sure! The girls are just maturing into ladies now, so maybe they are trying to see who is the toughest girl. I really hope so!

No...

BUT...

It is spread like a common cold... contact... if you handled sick birds, then picked up eggs, it could be on the outside of the shell... then if whoever gets them unpacks them and goes out to handle their birds, it *could* be passed that way...

Theoretical, but possible... and why flocks were destroyed over shipped hatching eggs...

Why not punch out a little nest in your pillow for her? 

lol, I thought about it. If I wasn't afraid my husband would roll over on top of her in the middle of the night or I'd wake up with my face in a fresh pile of poop, I'd be tempted to do that, lol. She's quieted down now. I'm not sure if she's going to make it. All she does is sleep now. Unless it's cause she's exhausted herself from crying for so long. that she makes it. I dipped her beak in some sugar water several times to give her a little energy and to make sure she had some water in her in case she was getting dehydrated. Since it took her so long to hatch I thought maybe the heat from being in the bator so long had dried her up (?), but she didn't seem overly interested in it. She seemed to like the taste but that's about it. I wish I had some SAC or ND but I don't and the local TSC doesn't carry it :/ I intend to complain about it!!
An update on the others: they are all running around like crazy and are already eating and drinking, even the 1's that hatched earlier this morning They all seem really strong and healthy, hopefully they'll stay that way ;fl

Is the temp in the brooder warm enough??? She maybe chilled and thats one reason she is crying so much in the brooder and not in your hands.

See I thought the same thing but the thermometer is reading 98°. All the others seem fine. They're actually moving away from the light a little bit instead of huddling directly under it. She's quiet now and she was pecking at a little food before she fell asleep, I don't know if she was actually eating it though.

My Welsummer pullets do this all the time, I find it amusing to watch, lol. The Nankins do it too, they are really funny to watch when they do it, lol.

@Ravyn: If she wakes up screaming and crying again I'll have a "mama cave" ready and waiting, lol. She's been quiet and sleeping for a while now. that she continues that til morning or is atleast stays relatively quiet til then, lol.
