She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

It's been raining so much here that she could probably just walk around the perimeter of the pen a few times and a trench would appear

You're joking, but I know a dog man in Six Runs NC that keeps some of his dogs in barrels up off the ground, supported on posts which have a steel ring and long chain,so the dogs can get exercise. I was on his place one time & heard a dog barking, but all the dogs I saw were quiet. I followed the sound of the barking, & came upon a dog that had run around his barrel long enough that he'd worn a trench so deep in that sandy soil that he couldn't be seen from a distance.

Archery is a great skill to learn! I still prefer bow hunting. I rifle hunt too, but I think learning archery skills made me a better rifle hunter. I hope your daughter does well and enjoys it!

I used to dabble in archery back in college. I wasn't very good and we just did target practice but it's enjoyable. It's been a long time.

I don't recall whether or not you were around for the finale of that little episode or not, but at least two of us, and probably more, ultimately had to flag her. That poor child's half a bubble off plumb already. Rather than being on a "fairly even keel", I'm afeared her dinghy's running in circles. It was only two days later, if that long, that this entire thread went South. Coincidence? I wonder.

Someone made a pout pout face and exploded?

Hope you have a great hatch Ross!

We're living parallel lives. Love that lavender color. Still working on my apron around 500 s.f. run. Heavy clay mixed with lots of nasty rocks. I'm gonna wear out that pick axe... or this bod. I started my first flock (not counting the flocks of child hood or granola years) with a home made bator. It's ugly, but... it's all mine! I did jazz it up with a roll of purple deco duct tape!

What's your thermostat? What you-tube video? Rush lane? He's awesome.

Same here. Gonna move on in my skill set to pressure canning.

I would love to have someone take me out hunting! It would be great to supplement the grocery bill till it becomes almost non-existent.

Every body has a story to tell. No one looks into the eyes of their baby, and wonders if they'll grow up to become a drug addict, or be involved in a teen age pregnancy, or become a felon. Truth is, we raise them, teach them, give them our best, train them in the way they should go, and then... they make their own choices. You're right, it ain't fun. In fact some of those choices tear families apart, and hurt like 43!! for a life time.

You can also buy on line 14 x 45'.

We just ended up scalping our soil a few inches and folding it into the L. Then covered it back up with clay and grass.

I did use the Rush Lane video to make mine with just the modified lower water heater thermostat. I had it running for maybe half an hour last night trying to tweak it to hit the right temp. It got very close at the end. I do know I need a better way to mount it. All that tweaking made my double stick foam tape pop off. Perhaps I will try carpet tape next. I have that already so it's free.

I'm still on my first flock. 2 BA, 2 GLW, 2 Doms, 1 BO Rooster and now 1 Polish Rooster. I am making arrangements to pick up a dozen EE hatching eggs this Saturday to try out my bator.

Ok hardware cloth ordered 150 ft of 1/2". I have several 2x4's and a few 4x4's already from a previous project that i didn't start. I plan to use them to stabilize/build some type of cover for the run. I know there are owls and hawks where I live.

I bought the big roll of hardware cloth on Amazon. It worked great. Just be prepared for it to spring out and attack you when you snip the wire that holds the coil together. And Gloves are your friend.

I have 1 zipper and 2 pippers.

Brooder ready, I need to run out and get some more bedding, I forgot yesterday when I picked up the feed. But I don't want to miss anything.

Yay! Go babies, go!

AMEN! A bungee cord or rubber cargo strap eliminates that problem, but you gotta have it in place BEFORE you snip that wire, which, of course, I didn't. "Too soon old & too late smart"

Day old chicks and I am feeling like an expectant mom. I am giving them my office for a brooder. I haven't started buying their supplies yet. I may get my coworkers to have me a baby chick shower since I never had any kids. LOL

Are these your first chickens? A baby chick shower sounds like a great idea!

go chickies go!! (you can go to the store after these 3 come out, while you wait for the others to pip)

I had a yellow lab that used to run circles around my house, I said she was creating a moat.

Later we contained her to the back yard only, then she went to live on my sister-in-law's farm. She lived to be about 14 years old. RIP Emily.

I think it was determined that she was actually a 50 year old man that spoke Korean
