I was going to say I had one of those, too, but you said feet![]()
I'm looking forward to your hatch as well! It kills me not to have eggs cooking.
I think it was determined that she was actually a 50 year old man that spoke Korean
AMEN! A bungee cord or rubber cargo strap eliminates that problem, but you gotta have it in place BEFORE you snip that wire, which, of course, I didn't. "Too soon old & too late smart"
But you learned a valuable lesson in just one try!![]()
Oh she is super cute!! I love that silver color. I NEED to see a pic when she's big enough for chicken diapers!!So, after the loss of the little black chick, and my broody's need to be out in the run regardless of having a new chick to take care of, I brought Frosty in to brood her inside. I thought maybe after a week I would be able to reintroduce her with the others, but that didn't work to well, so I made up my mind that I did it once, I can do it again, raise an only chick that is.... She is a pain in the butt, no doubt about it....lol More so than Peep was I think. Most nights she has to be cuddled before going to her brooder to sleep. Once she's been cuddled, and by cuddled I mean literally curled up with "Grandma" (as my son refers to me to her) usually up under my neck while I watch TV, and is sleepy, then I can put her in her brooder and she's good all night. She's out with us a lot during the day most days, usually the entire time we are schooling. When she's not she's gotten pretty good at not yelling and adjusting well. I am pretty sure that she is from my powder gray ee hen and daddy (of all 4 should be) my spitz. It's definitely looking like she sports the spitz comb. I am hoping she is a she because after all of this, if she makes it to adulthood, it will be real hard to ship her out if she's not a she. @RubyNala97 Thanks for asking about her and here's some pics I took tonight.![]()

My first baby got very sick a lot. And of course it would always be the middle of the night, so lots of ER visits. He gave me major anxiety! Then the next was my "easy" baby. Now this one is a mix between the two. There is always that one!!Ruby, glad to hear your little one is doing a bit better. Mine are not that young but my youngest is trouble with a T. If he was the first one and I was the panicking parent we'd be going to the ER once a week. Since he's the last we know they're built tougher than they look.Oh and GUYS, GUYS! I made a thing! It's my first electrical thing in the entire wide world of the universe! It's heating up now.

e Baby chickens here I come!
Good luck on lockdown and hatch!!I know!!!! I am super excited!!!! I have the most eggs this batch out of all my other batches....thank you @gachooks for telling me about the incukit!!!! I feel that I would have had more if there weren't so many clears but...we are going to try again next week. I only had 3 total that were quitters. So...working out well!
This post choked me up, Ruby. You're a great mom and your kids are so lucky to have you. Thanks for the update. I've been worried. Best wishes for both of you. Try to get some rest when you can. I know it isn't easy.
Now I must go to google!!@ravyn, I just read up on crested ducks. . . that's horrible. It should be outlawed. Humans are supposed to be evolving; caretakers and such. Sometimes I wonder what happened.
Have you searched byc for "runs" or "enclosures". There are tons of picture heavy threads. And I agree, that this will be your biggest cost but once it's done you will love it!! i went all out for my run and way over budget but I do t regret it for a second!Ok hardware cloth ordered 150 ft of 1/2". I have several 2x4's and a few 4x4's already from a previous project that i didn't start. I plan to use them to stabilize/build some type of cover for the run. I know there are owls and hawks where I live.
Others beat me to it. I hatched chicks beginning of October and moved them outside at 3 weeks with a heating pad "cave". I'm in NY and we are have freezing temps at night and they are thriving. Plus mine are not in the coop yet, just the run!Day old chicks and I am feeling like an expectant mom. I am giving them my office for a brooder. I haven't started buying their supplies yet. I may get my coworkers to have me a baby chick shower since I never had any kids. LOL
I have 1 zipper and 2 pippers.Brooder ready, I need to run out and get some more bedding, I forgot yesterday when I picked up the feed. But I don't want to miss anything.![]()

How do all y'all deal with no call/no show?
I tend to give people benefit of the doubt, because life happens. But here's the story.
I posted Scooter, my Golden Narragansett tom, Baby, and a bronze hen on several local Facebook poultry groups. Just a short time later I got a "very interested" message and we set a date and I provided contact info. I posted "pending" on the listings.
On the designated date I was home, waiting. And waiting. And waiting. I messaged her, and she said oh, sorry, she had an out of town emergency. Ok, I get that. It happens, and responding to people on Facebook would not be a priority for me in that case. So she said she'd be back Tuesday (today). We set another time, today at noon. Well, it's 2 pm, and no call, no show. I messaged her on FB that I'd be leaving soon for the day, and Messenger showed she saw the message. But no reply.
I don't think I have any obligation to "hold" them for her at all, nor do I have any inclination to do her any favors. I posted "Available" on all the listings and refrained from commenting why.
Does anyone disagree?
