She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

WTH? I go to Canada for a weekend, come back and the playground is closed, and everyone seems to have gone to bed.

Fine, gonna go make more breakfast sausage...

Congrats on the dog, Amy! He'll take to a new name, now is the best time.

I'll take some HOT Italian sausage....lol

Trying to figure out if we want to try to change the name or not. I am not crazy over "Chester" but I wasn't sure at 8 yrs if it would be a good idea. I like Buster, he just looks like one....lol At least to me.

Chester ain't as bad as Earl. that was the name of a 2yr old Jack Russell we were given by a lady who had to keep him crated all day. He had the run of the house & 3 acres here for the rest of his life, til we buried him a year ago; he was about 14-15, near as I can tell.

Amy, if you want to change his name, go ahead. Everything else is new and you said he doesn't answer to it anyway. Call him whatever you like and give him a treat, he'll learn it very quickly. :)

Yes, they do have higher occurances of breathing issues. We had a dog that had a pug look- no pug in her and she had breathing issues. Of course it didn't help that she was my mom's baby and she would feed her table scraps constantly and she was over weight. Like a balloon on legs. That one I have never heard. Ok, here's a couple pics of him on his pillow: I didn't realize he was sticking his tongue out at me when I took the pic in this next one:
Dudley does pretty well so far with his smashed face, but I figure he will have issues later in life. He's only 4. Whatever your boy's name is, he's adorable! Love the tongue sticking out, that's funny. hahaha! I always like to give a dog a bit of time to let a name suit him. The right one will come to you. My MinPin had been named Peanut when I bought him, 3 months old. He was not a Peanut to me. He needed a masculine name, he was so stout! I named him Jake. I had him for over 12 years. Dudley came from the Duh look on his face all the time. Duh-dley. Lmao!

X2.

My dogs are rescues, too. We have no idea what their names were "before" so we just gave them a new name, new house, new rules, etc. Kindness and consistency helps them adjust to their new situation, and they really like having a structure and routine.

Congratulations! He's really cute.

I'm betting he latches onto that son of yours like a second skin, and be sharing the bed with him b4 the week's out.
