Mine may be going down the same road before long. Went to open up this morning & as usual he let his girls file out first. He came past me in the open gate & caught me in the calf. I wasn't sure whether it was intentional or not, since I didn't see it coming, so I let him be. Went out later to collect eggs & he made a run at me, only this time I was ready for him & caught him amidships. We'll see if he needs any more altitude adjustment.
Sounds like mine! He tried to bite my leg the other day and latched onto my pants. Thankfully he missed my actually leg. He hung on too! I had to shake my leg around to try to get him off and yelling at him "NO"....a younger cockerel came over and bit his butt and pulled him off of me. I really like that younger one. He's got manners and keeps everyone in their place.
Shipped Calls have to be hand turned, so just doing them all same... in Spring when I'm getting more eggs I'll probably put them in a turner...
So only for shipped, is that due to air cell damage?
They're all doing really well. The silkies are getting big, it looks like I have 5 pullets and 2 cockerels, so far. The Nankins are fast becoming my favorites though. They are a cute and comical bunch. The older welsummers have settled into their new pen and coop and are loving the space and all the grass. I'm putting the 2 "babies" out tonight after my husband brings me an extension cord for their light. The Icelandics are growing like weeds, I can't wait til I can put them outside, they are a stinky, messy little group.
Glad to hear everyone's doing good!
So happy for you Ruby! Now do NOT go put it in the incubator yet.![]()
LOL. I don't think they are fertile. The previous owner said he had a cockerel but never saw them do the deed. I plan on eating this one for breakfast and if I see a bulls eye it will be EXTREMELY hard not to break out the incubator. Plus I know of two people looking for chicks!
That's what I thought too.
Yay! So she's at least adjusting! Congrats!
That's what I was thinking. I thought it would at least take a few days for them to settle in and have a proper nest box. I have them in quarantine, so just a big cage. But when I went and checked on them, there it was!

Saw a Harley in WI last summer with the coolest paint job I've ever seen; basically orange with airbrushed skulls & flames. Owner said the paint cost almost as much as the bike.
I live right next to that show that used to be called "Orange County Choppers" (I think the father/son had a falling out and they changed the name). But it's a huge, beautiful shop with all kinds of bikes with awesome paint jobs.
I think I have the yellow ones `that are in the first picture .I think Ravyn has them too not sure though . I think humidity has been hurting my success all year what was 27% this morning In the GQF hatcher is now up to 37%.I'm thinking of stopping turning today on my next hatch . well it will be the last for a little while . I've decided not to hatch again until I get one Of the GQF incubators going . I've been spraying disinfection spray in it for four days and it still smells really bad..
I can't wait till you get one of those incubators finished! I'm really looking forward to following your first hatch in it. So where will you incubate and brood now that the wife's laid down the law?
