She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

@RubyNala97 so still not better. Had to soak her again tonight. She's pooping and now it has blood in it. I really don't know what it could be. She is eating and drinking and she extremely skin. So I added some applecider vinegar to her water. I didn't see any worms....but I guess anything to help.

I'm so sorry!! Do you have a vet? I'm only suggesting that because I know you've tried everything! I read that you should be able to feel the egg if it's in there. But I've also read that most cases are not egg bound but another illness. I liked this article best. Keep me posted. :hugs

She is still acting like that... but she is pooping. So leads me to believe not egg bound. I just don't understand! How is yours doing? ?? She has never laid before! So.....yeah I might check her again today. Her little hip bones are really narrow. I can barely get one pointer finger between the bones. I also gave her some tums to help speed it along. But I am watching her.

I was going to say to try the tums. Have you googled ailments that resemble egg-binding? There's not much time if she is truly egg bound. I'm just thinking that you should have felt it, if she was. Maybe trying again is the best thing. Mine seems ok. She was standing a little funny this morning, which freaked me out, but the rest of the day she was eating, drinking and even left the coop to go out and mingle. So I think she's ok. The thing I like about hatching my own chickens, is that I know them well and how they act. This girl is new here, so I'm not sure what her "normal" behavior is. Anyway, I'm really interested to see how it goes for you. Please keep me posted. Here's another :hugs

Crap, I didn't even think about how contagious it is but being staph that makes perfect sense. What would I need to do to keep it from spreading if I did keep her? I can't let it take out my whole flock.

Megan, great advice from walnut and Turk!! It's good that they are 50 ft away and I think it's supposed to be downwind, if I remember right. Just keep everything separate like was mentioned. I feel bad for that poor girl and I know how you feel about not wanting to take her back. You're right, obviously she wasn't properly cared for. Let us know how treatment goes. :fl

:) thanks! I feel pretty lucky :) couldnt have come this far without you guys though!!!
I absolutly love how informative you are. :sick i dont even want to think about this but here goes nuthin...
Hard indeed :hugs hit me up anytime, i can at least send hugs :( i really feel bad for you, i had taken in a turkey hen becuz she wouldnt stop crying at me, i couldnt take it! Said hen was infected to the bone and i couldnt heal her, it highly upset me. I turned her over with orders of termination and he still hasnt done anything. Im not sure which route was Exactly Right, but i decided i couldnt risk my own flock. That mess is Highly contagious and you need to be extream in biosecurity if your going to keep her. I used the ESalt, bluecote and iodine treatment just like your reading, like walnut recommended... Also like ahe recommended? If i were you, id take her back. Gluck :(

Aww, I didn't know this story. It's so sad. I don't know how people can be oblivious to their animals being sick/in pain. Unless, they just don't care. It's hard being an animal lover because you want to do everything right for them! You tried your hardest. :hugs

@ FridayYet I think I'll try Tylan and scrubing it and not putting anything on it and see how that goes, if that doesn't work then I'll try putting honey on it. From the looks of her foot I don't think I have long to mess around though. Hopefully she'll recover from this but it looks pretty bad.

@rossfam06

It all sounds to me like your poor gal might have a reproductive issue, like a tumor or salpingitis.

Has she laid any of the "fairy eggs" or lash eggs? If so, that's a symptom. Is her belly flaccid or firm? Warm or cool belly? Is the blood from the vent opening, or mixed with mucus?

As she isn't showing signs of recovery, the prognosis isn't too good. Keep her comfortable, if you are lucky it is something less drastic and she'll recover.

She has never laid an egg. Belly as in the area below her vent, or the crop??? Her crop is soft and the area below the vent is soft. There was only a little blood when she was pooping. Now it's gone. No mucus. I think it was from the vent opening. Her belly is warm. But she is extremely skin. I pray she pulls through or I will be so heartbroken! :hit. Should I give her some antibiotics?

Ruby no egg. I think Walnut is correct about it being a reproductive issue.

Thank you everyone for helping!!! I will keep you posted on her prognosis.

You're so smart! The article I read was written by a long time breeder. She had 30 cases of suspected egg-binding. She performed a necropsy each time. Results confirmed only 1 true case of egg binding. All the others showed tumors, cancers, and growths.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts, @rossfam06
