Maybe cause them chicks put off more heat of their own the further along developmentally they get.

They have a 1583 that I like, it's basically the 1588 w/o the digital controls. and about $50 cheaper. I have the turner, but I prefer to hand turn.

Another thing about the genesis is if it ever messes up from a power surge there is a reset switch on the top of the bator inside. It is a little yellow stick looking thing that you just push forward and back and it reset's the bator so it will work just like new.

It does. I shared a pic of the switch with Bama Dude on the OFH thread.

That's good to know. I've seen a lot of good things about the hovabators, but I have never seen anyone mention that.

I can't be around to turn them, unfortunately

I was fooling with the idea of putting the eggs on cheesecloth, and just pulling the cloth to turn them.
Leave both ends hanging out the bator with one end longer than the other, so you know which way to turn/pull.

Ain't tried it tho

It has been brought to my attention by one of the "Locals",

here on this thread that I am not spending enough time out in the forums. This is 110% true as I am stretched quite thin these days....saving my entire flock from what WAS a mystery disease, being complete life support for a hen that has developed heart failure, (I have brought this bird back to life from cardiac arrest several times this past week) (the dang bird must have 9 lives like a cat) and of course my main job here on BYC as "School Marm" or "Church Lady" if you prefer!

(goes completely against my grain of my normally obnoxious ways of doing the (fill in the blank here) ______ dance.

I have made a promise to this "Local" and will do my best to misbehave as much as possible!
