You need a license to raise Bobs since they are a Native species to the US. You can release on your own land but if you release on public land, you need a permit for that too.
Bobs are a lot of work. I did it for about a decade and I am so tired of quail. LOL. Bobs are definitely a better hunting bird but if you just want to eat quail, raise Coturnix. They can be dressed and ready for the table at 8 weeks of age.
