She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

So, wv, I was looking for a chart for duck eggs air cells sor someone, because I can't find the one that I had saved and I did a google search for "air cell duck eggs" and like normal when I do a google search I get intrigued with looking at all the irrelevant pics as well. Almost to the bottom of the page I see a photo I recognize. I'm like that's WV's pic she added last night, so I click to expand it and sure enough, there's the title to our thread and byc...lol I thought it was cool...lol

Haha! that's funny. A while back, when we were talking about accents, my hubby googled that Raising Az quote that I had mentioned, and found our thread! Kinda scary actually! LOL

I misposted the broody chicks in my pen roundup. The 6 broody chicks are in the cuckoo marans pen. A polish wouldn't sit on a nest if you duct taped her to it

No big loss. He sounded like an arrogant troll to me. He was beating up on newbies, and when people with more experience confronted him with facts he tucked tail and ran

I have been going back to see if he replied myself. Good riddance
And he was a newbie himself. Only hatched once and already condeming someone. I had to work hard to be fairly poliet and not blow my lid on that one.

I would prefer to have 10-15 hens of each breed, and that is what I am breeding towards, but I started with smaller straight run batches, so I kept the best roosters and the hens. The only rooster that overbreeds is the Polish. He is very amorous, and rough. 3 of the hens are getting to the point that I may need to buy jackets. I still have 19 left from the last batch, so I will probably be giving him several more to "spread the love". My BCM rooster also seems like he is going to be a loverboy, so the plan with him is to hatch 20 or 30 to grow out over the winter and keep the best 12 or so. The pullets should start laying any day now

Thanks for the insight (and gentle wording lol) Its looking like my 10 LO's may be 7 hens and 3 roos. Possibly even 6/4. So if I don't mix them with the others, I will need to remove a few boys. I knew that, but I just wondered if I only end up with 6 hens, will they be enough for one dude. I also have 8 golden comet girls, but they will be given to my older EE and Brahma roos. I think the brahma is too old to bother them, but will play that one by ear when the time comes.

I know what you mean! When my shipped eggs came in I was undecided about laying them down or keeping them upright, so I sat down with google to do some research...all the BYC threads, that I had been posting on, are the ones that came up! I was a little freaked too!! ;)

No, he really wasn't that bad till the end. I was on a HAL with him for our very first hatches and he had done everything wrong, and had a bad hatch. So this time he was really trying to do everything right. I'm pretty surprised he flew the coop over a little knowledgable information....ok, so maybe you are right!! :gig

7-8 hens have been great for all of my roosters except the Polish. There are 3 that are more submissive, and he is wearing them out, but all are fertile. My last set, 27/28 eggs were fertile
