She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Hope you have a great party today!! And your plan was exactly my plan to the tee. Just wanted the kids to experience hatching and had a good home lined up for them. Then decided to keep them. 4-6 girls and 1 boy. We're up to 18 chickens and 20 chicks!

Incubators should come with warnings "Incubating leads to lifelong addictions of hatching, raising and spending excess $ on chickens, turkeys, quail and anything hatchable."

Chicken math is better than cow math..lol, my husband's addiction is cows. We're getting ready to go look at a hereford heifer.
I text'd him this one morning..

He came back with this

Eh, better, but still not home. I'm guessing Monday maybe. Slight possibility of tomorrow. He's just really weak now.
Did blood transfusion today, which I hate, but had to be done. Seems to have had the desired effect.

Thanks for asking! And the continued thoughts and prayers.

Glad he's doing better. We don't like the idea of blood transfusions, But they can be life savers! My hubby has had 6 units. I urge any one who can donate, to please take the time to do so. When organizing blood drives for various people, I often hear, "I can't donate blood, I'm afraid of needles, or afraid it will hurt too much." This, coming from folks sporting more than one tat, or with piercings. Any how, I'll step down off my soap box for now. It only takes an hour, and they load you up with chocolate chip cookies and juice after!

Oh, I keep scouting out my yard to figure out if I have any way to leep muscovies

Unfortunately, another barrier to getting dusks is that my husband thinks chickens are messy--not so sure how he'd handle ducks

I'm also thinking Muscovies would be a nice addition. I hear they are tasty. Also considering buying some fertile duck eggs from the health food store to set... just for grins and giggles.

I've always wanted to donate blood. When I was younger (up till my mid 20's) I couldn't because I was on allergy shots. Since then I just haven't done it. I'm AB+ so with only 3.4% having AB, and it's also the universal blood plasma donor it would be a good thing to do. I'm not afraid of needles and I give blood quite easily. I am afraid of our hospiital though cause they suck. It was actually shut down a while back because they gave someone the wrong blood type during a transfusion, and the guy died from it. They brought in administration from a bigger hospital the next big town over to "straighten it out", but they still suck. Still every time I see a blood drive ad, I think, I really want to do that. My son is opposed to me doing it...lol

We were supposed to have a blood drive at work and we were all really excited, then we found out you have to have at least 45 participants. We only have about 18 employees.. I am O negative which I believe means I can give to anyone.
Best wishes for your husband WV!

Do you have a local Red Cross near you? I have a choice of doing it through Red Cross or the local hospital. I always took my kids and grand kids with me when I donated blood to give them gentle exposure to the concept, and they responded really well to it. Especially when they got to sit up at the big table with the rest of the donors when I was done and share a snack with me.

We're really rural, so only need about 15 committed to schedule a mobile drive. Could you join forces with an other business in your area? Perhaps a little friendly competition with your business competitors to see which business could raise up the most donations! We've done it at our church a few times. First time was for a member who had AcuteMonocyticLeukemia, and had dual cord blood transplants.

good morning P.D.Are you setting eggs today ? I am and don't know for sure how many others are . this is set day for the Easter hatch along so there are several . I'm just setting not in the hatch along

Yes, I set 25 eggs early this morning. I didn't intentionally set them for the Easter hatch, but it's cool that it worked out that way. I'm giving my sister several chicks, so if it works out, her daughters may have little fluffy chicks to play with Easter morning :)
I'll have to mention to my boss about partnering up with another company. Hate to give up on the idea of a blood drive. Our company is big into giving back. I work in Flint, so we donate water to the local people. We also do food bank donations and sponsor big brothers/big sisters.

. You all are such an active group I may not post a ton, but reading will sure give me lots of ideas to think about this hatching season! I'll be setting my incubator up sometime this week, it's a home made cabinet. I didn't get to use it much last year, we'll see how this season goes.

And, since you all are talking about donating blood, I'm going to chime in with a big YES PLEASE

. It took triple digits of blood product transfusions to get me through my cancer treatment over the last few years, so its a topic near and dear to my heart. And a huge THANK YOU to everyone who donates, on a regular basis or even once
