She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

That's what I do... I just take a piece of fencing and attach it across a good corner piece and leave a dog carrier in there for them to sleep in...

We are actually supposed to get a snowstorm tomorrow into Monday, so I will move them Tuesday out to the run and section it off. Here's the pics...Monday they will be 2 weeks old...don't they look little?

I just walk by the fence and notice there are more there than there were the day before :gig

You're girls have it under control...they're pros!!

They do look little in the pics. I'm really liking that black one. ;)

Right!?! They are just starting to get their little wing feathers in, I usually see that by 3 days when I brood them.

So cute! My week olds do look bigger. And I'm glad you posted pics. Gives me better reference for mine that I'm not sure are mixes or pure cochin.

Has anyone noticed that chicks with a Broody mama grow at a much slower rate then indoor brooded chicks? I'm sure it's because they are not under a light with nothing but food and water to occupy their time 24/7! But wow, what a difference!
My broody chicks grow and feather faster. They were in a sectioned off area of the coop (inside) and in a tractor for their outside time due to heavy hawk predation. My cat was fond of them too.

My broodied babies feathered in quick, it did seem as though my inside babies grow faster and get fatter faster, but they have no competition for food in the brooder...lol

Those do look tiny... maybe it's just too warm for them? Warmth in the house+broody warmth? Getting into cool spots is what encourages feather growth...

I put up a thermometer and it stays between 60-65. I will move them out in the next couple days depending on the storm. Is 45 degrees outside warm enough? Or with a broody it's always warm enough?
