Well the broody Cochin and Turkey drew their last straws. Each killed a chick or two and I stole All the eggs... Now I have three hatchers and a fourth piped of the four eggs I saved after candling. Had never candled thru the sets while they were outside so I had just now pulled clears... Was ugly and I'm glad I caught em n stole my babies back

I'm sorry about your babies. That's one of the reasons that I have been hesitant to try a broody. If it always had a storybook ending I'd never fill my incubator...but that seems to be a much more likely outcome than not.
I wanna add that I know these girls aren't good mammas so far, but they are Great incubators. I planned for these problems from them, when setting them under the hens, I had some set close to the same time in the bator, so they could grow up tugther. The four who developed, are hatching, I have 3/4 right now an #4 is piped. I might plan to pull eggs at day 18 in the future unless someone turns up as a good mama.
Another possibility is to give them some of the current CM cockrels, these are auto sexing at hatch. I might let them Attept the raising with these 3 day old chicks that have their legs under em... I know some hens will adopt an others wont... What do u guys think?
