It needs to be bandaged like the link I posted earlier. Completely wrapped like a full body cast.

I'm not killing her, I'm telling you that this is likely to recur and the chick may never thrive or live without pain.

If you separate the chick it needs a full setup, not just a carrier.

I'm not sure what the rest of your message is meant to be, maybe I should read the rest of the threads you posted on to see if I can glean any more information.

You may not want to hear this message but you need to be realistic as well. I know you had a very challenging incubation and we offered a lot of suggestions to help you improve your processes. One of the downsides to irregular incubation conditions is the increased likelihood of birth defects.

Some of the defects may be minor, like toes fused together. Others are more severe, like missing toes, deformed legs, deformed spine, improperly closed skull. This chick is between the two, its spine did not develop properly and the abdominal cavity is too short for the abdominal contents. And of course some defects are so severe the chick dies in the shell.

If you continue to work to keep this chick alive, its prognosis is poor. It may not grow to adulthood, and if it does and if it's a female it will be subject to repeated vent prolapse.

For the chick's sake, I'd advise culling this one. The vet is right.

We have offered advice, and it's not working. The chick deserves better than a life where it is unable to eliminate on it's own and lives in pain because of a prolapsed vent. I'm not convinced that is possible. The chick should be put down, quickly and humanely.

We are not miracle workers and can't fix a hatchling over the internet. I've offered my best advice as to how you can assist and all you're telling me is that it isn't working. I never promised it would from the start.
