My daughter keeps the rabbits. 3 lionheads. One just had kits a few weeks ago.I think I'm going to stick with chickens. I tried rabbits last year, but all of my spare time was spent with the chickens and I didn't have time for the rabbits, so I sold them and turned their hutch into brooder #3. I have limited time, and chickens are low maintenance, so that's all I need
Rabbits are so cute, but I just didn't have time for them. If they laid eggs, I may have kept them, but I didn't have time to just sit and look at them. I felt guilty, because they were really sweet rabbits, but I didn't want to neglect them
If my daughter didn't put them in a run for exercise I would not have them.Rabbits are so cute, but I just didn't have time for them. I agree with useful livestock. I wish I could get my family to eat rabbit, it's cheap and grows quickly. At least they will eat the venison I hunt.Aww I had English Angora Bunnies I loved them but I think they got fur block or something was wrong with their hay. They were only 6-8 months old and all three diedwas so sad. I love their hair. I still have several baggies of their fur. I will spin it into yarn when I get better at it.
I want all sorts of livestock that is useful. I shouldn't have the horse but I got attached and felt sorry for him, but I want some dairy sheep, possibly dairy goats, but would love a highland cow or two and a yak![]()
As for Poultry I want to add turkeys, possibly a few chickens for meat production. I am fine with the ducks for eggs.
If my daughter didn't put them in a run for exercise I would not have them.

These rabbits are not really useful unless you need an endorphin rush from cuteness.

TRIBBLES!!!!
Well, no one is posting much, so I will give a silkie update just to show how hands off I am. I think the last time I posted we were up to 17. I told you guys I'm totally hands off, and don't even mark to see if new eggs are laid. I know they are, I just don't know which ones, so I leave them all. I had one broody stay on the nest for another week, and she hatched 4 more chicks. She had a new one 4 out of 7 days when I would come home from work. I was worried I would have to break her when the last one hatched, but as soon as the last egg was gone, she came down with the chick. Now I have 5 silkie hens walking around with 21 chicks, and it's like a chicken commune. The chicks just go to whoever is the closest when they want to be covered. Now I have a new broody that started sitting Sunday, so it will start all over again![]()
