Thanks! After setting my last batch at 8:30 pm, I said no more evening settings! Lol too confusing! But I'd do it tomorrow afternoon.
Pretty green eggs though! Best of luck for a great hatch!
You know how teenage boys are.

I did a few things different this time because of my altitude at about 5k feet. I opened the air vents the whole time and increased my humidity to about 50% for most of the incubation. I stopped turning yesterday at lockdown. If I don't turn them then the heating element above will heat the top of the egg about 4 degrees hotter than the bottom. If I let them turn then they get cooked evenly on both sides and I feel better about that. We will see though. These are shipped eggs from 1,300 miles away and they come from almost sea level. I'm going to add a fan to my incubator after this hatch.that's not hard to figure out set on Friday hatch on Friday lock down Tuesday I set on Saturday lock down on Wednesday . were the eggs on a auto turner. I like the way they are supported I wonder did you follow Amy's hatch she stopped turning on day 14 .Is that right Amy day 14
I use a very thick styrofoam from shipped frozen meat and it works great. You can ask restaruants and grocery stores if they have any. You could also check craigslist and local pet shops.Up to post 1550 now -
I would love to make my own incubator but i cant seem to get hold of any Styrofoam boxes for now.
On Breeds - I want Olive Eggers with Frizzled silkie feathers and no Aracuna beards, or silkie crests. This will take a lot of mixing and be a very unique Bird. I also want the same looks in a Chocolate egger. I am making a start trying for eggs from these 2 :
Redneck good morning!![]()
The only thing red about me is my neck
Yeah right! I cant afford that thing right now. I wish I could have because that's what I would have started with.![]()
On a good note....my neighbors who complain about the rooster, asked if we had gotten rid of it yet because they just got back into town last night and my daughter was like nope he is still back there. But they were happy because they did not hear him at all this morning. Crow Collar: 1, naggy neighbors: 0. LoL!!!! But they don't know that there is a second rooster or for that matter 7 Roosters all together on my property!!They would have a freaking heart attack.![]()
Good to know they work.

I like the drawer receivers you could put shelves in those spots. The depth looks good. Would you still need to insulate it though? I have thought a fireproof filing cabinet would make a good incubator too.Just found this Brower model, but the reviews aren't stellar. Anyone here ever used one? I know there are some here that use the old Browers. This one is all plastic and dishwasher safe!

And speaking of homemade incubators.... I was out in our warehouse and there's an old metal desk about to be thrown away. I was looking at the drawer unit on one side and wondering if I could make an incubator out of it. Looks like it would come completely off the desk itself. Thoughts?
(yes, its laying on its end, on the floor, I rotated the pic... no need to tilt your head...)![]()
