Haha! Could be! But I only have 2, and don't plan on any more, so if there's a he, please tell him he's safe! Lol

I have been so bad. We had a neighborhood cleanup and someone put out one of those thick fisher price kids play houses and I almost grabbed it for a coop for a breeding pen. Now that's redneck! I constrained myself though.
Your husband is rad. My wife is like "when did those eggs get into the incubator? I thought you were done?".
I told her "You don't choose the chicken life, the chicken life chooses you".

I think I'm going to stick with chickens. I tried rabbits last year, but all of my spare time was spent with the chickens and I didn't have time for the rabbits, so I sold them and turned their hutch into brooder #3. I have limited time, and chickens are low maintenance, so that's all I need
Thats how i feel but you never how people are. My brother thinks he is hot s**t too!!!! I dont get it, its sad, he does not even try to be a Dad to his kids. So he drowns his would be "sorrows" in alcohol. They already came out... a couple weeks ago. A bunch of little mixes. 20 to be exact...lol
1) Are Banties worth the time to process?? I can't see buying a bantie for the meat.
2)Mine isn't flamboyant (In fact he thinks he God's gift to woman). It's just one of those cases you wish you different last names so no one asked if you were related. Sad thing is he used to be such a good guy. Now....![]()
Your brother is mean.
I want one!!!! Look at those cute little faces!!
Break her!!!! Ice bath! Ice Bath!Well, no one is posting much, so I will give a silkie update just to show how hands off I am. I think the last time I posted we were up to 17. I told you guys I'm totally hands off, and don't even mark to see if new eggs are laid. I know they are, I just don't know which ones, so I leave them all. I had one broody stay on the nest for another week, and she hatched 4 more chicks. She had a new one 4 out of 7 days when I would come home from work. I was worried I would have to break her when the last one hatched, but as soon as the last egg was gone, she came down with the chick. Now I have 5 silkie hens walking around with 21 chicks, and it's like a chicken commune. The chicks just go to whoever is the closest when they want to be covered. Now I have a new broody that started sitting Sunday, so it will start all over again![]()
I wish I knew. I have a partridge color silkie......I feel its a hen. Just by stance and lack of attitude. But I have been wrong before. Why are silkies so danged hard to tell boys from girls?? I still can't tell for sure about my 2. I'm just waiting for eggs.....
Be careful. If you have one boy and one girl, they will certainly remind you of Tribbles. There's a reason silkies are so stupid. All that ever goes through there mind is "Gotta sit on the nest, gotta sit on the nest, gotta sit on the nest"Haha! Could be! But I only have 2, and don't plan on any more, so if there's a he, please tell him he's safe! Lol

Fabio is a sneaky devilWell, if she's always sitting, then how are the eggs gonna get fertilized?![]()
Our vet gave us one of the styro coolers that the meds come in a couple months ago when I got the cat fixed, I've been contemplating it....lolHAHA should have put the ball on his back, maybe would have cushioned the fall! LOL
I think I'd have to take it apart to actually see if it would need further insulation, but hubby has this wonderful, thin hvac insulation stuff. I think it would work great. Have to build some kind of door too, and I would have to have glass, so I could see what was going on! The cutout in the back looks great for wiring, etc. Gonna have to get him to come look at it I guess.

Today is trash pickup day at my house. There's a house a few away from me that the owner passed away a couple of months ago. His children have been cleaning out the house. Out for the trash was a Styrofoam box. Hubby called me an told me to look at it on my way out. I saw it yesterday on my way in! I think it looked like one of those coolers that they ship cold medications in. That was the only part that stopped me from grabbing it... worried maybe I couldn't sterilize it well enough... Yep, definitely mental!
What do you mean you didn't get it?!? And why are they throwing somehing like that out? Around here you can still get $40-60 for a used one as long as all the pieces are there...lolI have been so bad. That's exactly what I did when I saw that. I think my son thinks I'm crazy though...lol "Tribbles!!"Awwww, so sweet. My SIL has rabbits, and they do multiply like... well..... rabbits! LOL We had one once, but gave it to my MIL, then she gave it to my SIL....
TRIBBLES!!!!
My brother does that too. (Alcoholic) His kids are all "grown up" and following in his irresponsible footsteps...it's sad. I love him, don't get me wrong, just dissapointed and embarrassed by him.Thats how i feel but you never how people are. My brother thinks he is hot s**t too!!!!
