I have a pip :weee I have a pip :weee

I knew I could hear peeping earlier and now this has confirmed I'm not going insane or hearing things!! It's in one the Amber x polish eggs though I thought they would be a little later with being bigger but obviously it can't wait.

That's great! You owe me some pics when they get out. I stopped at 22. These are bred beautifully, most totally white in the face and crest. I'm not sure what SOP is, but that's why I picked that rooster. The WCBs don't look as good to me with too much black.
Isn't it day 21 for you?

Ok, so now I'm having trouble getting that french accent out of my mind..... Poor little froggie.. I'll have to start another thread so you can give captions for all my egg photos!!!

Good news, 5 out of 7 bantam silkie mix chicks have hatched. It's the 20th day, so I'm giving the last two eggs another day, but I'm not optimistic... One has a bit of wax over a little crack on the shell.. It looked developed going in to lockdown, so if it doesn't hatch C'est La Vie...(that was me not the frog...)

Incubator #2 was locked down this morning with a mix of 5 Dominiques, 4 Cochins and 20 Buff Orpingtons. They all came from a local lady who several years ago, I bought Peafowl fertilized eggs from with good success. I started with more Cochins but a lot just didn't make it to lockdown. Does anyone have experience incubating Cochin eggs? Just curious if they are more difficult or if there is another reason...
I'm glad you appreciated the joke. These other guys and gals are used to me, but I was hoping I didn't offend you since you are new. There's a lot of smack talk on here, but it's all good natured.
My bantams usually show up early, too, but I've never had any experience with cochins. Did they develop and quit, or just infertile?

I too am not sure what SOP is? Is that the colour of your roo? I will have to look it up :idunno

I'm only day 19 but as usual I will probably have a day 20 hatcher. With not doing eggs cartons this time I'm not sure if anything else has pipped where I can't see. It's driving me insane not being able to see :barnie

I just meant Standard of Perfection, as in show quality. I haven't read up on it. I just know that my roo looks better to me than many pics of others I have seen, but I am a little biased
Here's Damien. Mean as a snake, but lord he makes beautiful babies

He looks great!! He does look a little mean. LOL
Mine would never be anywhere near standard of perfection I too have not looked up things like that. I had a WCB roo last year out of some eggs I got from a breeder. I didn't really give him chance to flourish before moving him on and now wish I had kept him instead of getting the blue splash. All the eggs from the blue splash roo are blue chicks. At least from the silver lace roo pen you get a bit of variety in colour. If only those girls didn't mess with the eggs I could get more of the eggs in the incubator. Some are just beyond even trying to incubate them. They are far more destructive with everything compared to the others.
