She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I'd say genetic and I would say that it isn't full silkie if it's not showing the true black skin.  I have two out of this last hatch that have 4 toes on one foot and 5 on the other. One of my five toes appears to have a double toenail on  the 5th toe, but they are so small it's hard to tell for sure. But, all of mine are crosses and  none are pure.  Yes, I would cull them from breeding stock to assure that it is not carried down if you are breeding for quality.
Eventually, but like sidewing said, you can wash  them  off with warm water to get some of the stickiness off.
Like Amy said, missing toes are common on silkies. The pink feet may possibly turn, but mine are usually fairly dark at hatch. Silkies are so common as pets that true SQ silkies are hard to find. Mine are wonderful pets, but far from SQ, and I am fine with that

So Beautiful!   Remember, I'm from Southern California and meat always came from the supermarket.  (LOL)  Luckily my dad grew up in Appalachia, and wrung necks for supper.  He'd come do it for me, but he's in WA and not coming to visit until October!  DH won't do it either.

I think I'll use the cone and a scalpel.  The birds are still small and will fit in a 2 liter bottle with the neck cut out.  I'm much better with a scalpel than a gun, and my unused arsenal won't help in this case. (.22s and a 9mm, just in case of civil unrest per my dad.)  No pellet gun, although I can see how that could work really well.
I think I misunderstood your post the first time. You said "civil unrest per my dad". I was going to say you and I should talk, but I keep a 45 because of civil unrest BY my dad :gig

LOL He's a bit of a prepper and a gun collector. Eventually I will have more guns than I could ever shoot in my lifetime.

He forgets that I don't really know how to shoot. I really need to take some classes.

(LOL, The civil unrest in out family comes from my MOM!)

Thank you guys!! You made me smile because I have a little hope that I might get one more! I love this thread! And guess what? Looks like my incubator won't get a break. I took a walk with the kids and told my neighbor about the hatch and as soon as he knew I had one free incubator, he handed me 6 peacock eggs!! They are huge compared to the silkie eggs! C'mon Brinsea!!...don't fail me now!! I appreciate all of the feedback, guys. It means a lot.

You have done a great job and it's not over yet! LOL How exciting on the peacock eggs!

I know you have read this, but just a reminder:

My eggs won't be here until tomorrow. We're leaving (or planning to) around 7am. I specifically had the guy send them to our PO box instead of our house, because I'm convinced that being jammed into the mailbox was the final straw for the last clutch's air cells. We'll be back Monday, but if we leave at a sane time, the post office will be closed (there's a possibility that we'll be leaving late Sunday night and get back around dawn, but since school's out, meaning I don't have to be at work until August, I hope not...).
See if your neighbor can get them for you and explain how to set them in a carton to rest.

Same with Ameracana/Americana/Araucanas 99.9% of the time they are EEs. Doesn't help that hatcheries sell EEs labeled as Ameraucana or some strange spelling variation. Fairly hard to get true stock.
Yeah I never knew about this Ameraucana thing, but the guy I ended up getting eggs off of (also my orpingtons) only has rare breed and pure breed chickens. Haha I now realize there's a whole world of fancy chickens. Anyways, apparently this guy is certified by the Ameraucana breeders club, so I think he's legit. From what I could see at his farm he has purebreeds. He's a nice guy ironically was my husbands teacher in grade school. Also have some BLRW I'm excited about.

. Peacock eggs?! That's awesome, I'm jealous. How is your hatch going? I hope Ameraucanas are nice LOL. I saw some videos and they seemed friendly. People say that too about RIR's huh? The roosters anyways. My Orpington rooster is the sweetest boy. He will literally cuddle with you. And I am calling him a rooster. I'm 99% sure he is, but they are some nice chickens. This is him: My other babies, I think the darker ones will be blue. Breeder said they carry blue, splash, black and split lavender genes ( I kind of understand the genetics now that they will not be lavender)

Thank you! I have not specifically read that yet. And it sums up exactly how I feel! You know by incubating eggs, we are growing something and making it alive. Naturally, it's hard to think you grew it just to die.

They are beautiful! I'm just trying to figure out genetics & colors too! I mostly wanted buff & partridge for this hatch but the seller couldn't guarantee it because it was a mixed lot. The one color I didn't want was black. Well, out hatched this little black chick today and honestly, I just fell totally in love with him the second he came out!! Go figure!

I would if they were being delivered to the house, but I'm not comfortable giving the PO box key to someone--the PO box is technically for the ministry (my husband is director for Reach Out Ministries )
So what are you gonna do?

Peas are very cute as babies. But I was warned at how LOUD they are as adults, so I'll pass lol. I assume you will hatch them and give them to him?
