She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I normally would actually use punctuation, but I wanted to show my excitement at the concept of having normal internet functionality ;-)
*Fiddles around some* Ah, if I use the built-in browser, I have a forward button. I only ever use that browser when I want to post pics. I like Firefox better, because I can get to any of my usual sites with one tap, instead of dealing with bookmarks or typing out urls.

*Fiddles some more* Hm, the forward button is activatable... Huh, what do you know--it leads to my BYC subscription page LOL I might just think about using that browser for BYC...

LOL I gathered that... very funny!

Never been a matter of social life, I just have never liked stupid humor. Just like I love Jim Carrey, but can't stand to even see a commercial for the dumb and dumber movies. I like funny, not people acting like idiots. MAD TV makes me cringe. I'd rather listen to Jeff Foxworthy or Bill Envall or even Larry the Cable Guy....
I agree with much of that!... I love Jim Carrey in Liar, Liar, and I actually like the dumb and dumber movies, but so many of his, I just cannot watch! I can laugh at stupid humor for only so long. I might giggle, but then I'm like "how stupid!" I quit watching SNL many years ago! And Bill Engvall is one of my absolute favs! But Rodney Carrington? He makes me cry laughing so hard... I'd love to meet that man!

I do--then again, my coop is 10'x10', with 8 hens, so I have plenty of room! There are times when we're gone for a few days and don't have anyone that wants to help with the chickens (the dog's easy--she's one that you can measure out a week's worth of food, basing the rations on her weight, and she'll eat for 10 days) or just times, like this Saturday, when there's someone in town, but it's pretty darn certain that no one will be available to close up at dusk.

Thanks for all the replies to that question everyone! Since I'm planning to be gone for a few days, I was just thinking it would probably be ok if they happen to run out for a few hours, before my neighbor gets to fill them up (if it happens) I don't have feed inside the coops, so they don't eat once they go to "bed", but its still out in the run, where they always have access to it. And AmyPaperlady... I have the same luck with the dog of mine that won't be travelling with us. I can fill his bowls and there will still be food left when we return! Its like he saves it up, just in case we don't come back, he's stretching it out for the long haul! lol He'll keep my flock safe while we are gone.

My serious response, though, is that is how it goes for me. At about 3 weeks it seems like they eat all the time. I had 10 Roos left over from the last hatch, and sold them for $2 each at six weeks old just to keep from feeding them any more. They eat like pigs at that age

and all I feed is fermented, so its way less effort for them to digest and get energy from it. Luckily yesterday they had finally eaten all the fermented starter I had readied for the 30 I hoped for.

Which brings up another question. Do you all let your birds have 24/7 access to food/water?

I diet a lot...pls don't ask...but one thing I learned is that you don't look at things per meal, but per week, or even per month. That's ok for a human, so per week should be max for a chicken. IOWs, I put out some fermented food and then refill it when its empty...but maybe the next day. So no to free feeding, yes to giving them lots of good stuff to eat. Chickens, I think, are foragers and expect to not find enough to eat from time to time.

I hear Marans are very good eating.

I heard that too, that's what got me going on my project to create some. Now all I have to do is stop smoking and drinking for a month, and I might know...

I'm not going to smack you for that. I'm going to give the "he said" to your "she said". I don't know if you guys can tell or not

, but I have been a huge comedy fan all my life. I saw Robin Williams "A Night at the Met" when I was a kid, and knew right then that he was my hero. Some people hate him, but the guy was phenomenal. Such a quick wit, and the way his mind worked reminded me of myself. I was truly sad when his life ended the way it did.
I like some stupid comedies, if they are smart

. SNL is stupid and smart. Tina Fey is a genius. I can quote Monty Python's "The Holy Grail" until people just walk away

MAD TV had some seriously funny characters, and the comedians on that show didn't get nearly the credit they deserved.
I love political satire and improv, Ryan Stiles on "Who's Line" is another that I would consider a genius, but 99% of people don't know who he is.
The Blue Collar guys are funny, but 15 years of the same old rehashed redneck stuff. I'm with WV, if you want to see a smart, funny redneck, see Rodney Carrington.
We all had our things that we wanted to get away from growing up, and comedy was my defense mechanism. I have always dealt with things by laughing at them. That's not always a good thing, but it sure beats crying

So now you guys know why you have to deal with this insanity

I think you agree, wit over humor. A fart isn't funny, but Obama farting when he doesn't want to can be hilarious. That's wit over humor, imo.
