She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I have 14 BCM eggs on the turner now. If I can get 10 more by Sunday I will be in my 10 day window, and will start the set. I'm not worried about pullet eggs, but this will be my first experiment with BCM, so I'm hoping it goes well. I don't have anything to lose, as I will be hopefully keeping 20 or 30 to grow out over the winter to see if I can get some good birds. If this one doesn't go well, I will just try again in 3 or 4 weeks

THAT is exciting! I just LOVE BCMs. Awesome chickens.

Oh, that is so sweet(the first part). Our BA roos were separated from the girls for that very reason. They were straight up jerks, too. They would smack a --*ehem*-- hen, for eating before them. Didn't matter how full they were either. If it was a treat, it was theirs.

Good thing. Some hens smack back.

And there's a monkey Island in the southern part of the state. Same reason. no joke. They used to do experiments there, and now monkeys live on the island. Near Beaufort. Sometimes you can see them from the boat

Somebody on another thread was talking about that, I think. Left over from filming planet of the apes a long time ago?

Good, Awful, Both.

The first one had gotten to the point where he was having a hard time eating and couldn't pick up food. I felt OK about it due to his quality of life. so I did him first.

The first one i didn't cut deep enough, but he was calm for the most part but seemed to take forever to die.

The second one I cut too deep, so he instantly struggled, popped out of the bag so I had to grab his feet and hold him as he finished bleeding out. Dramatic & gory but much quicker.

I had put a trash bag rolled down on the table, so I tucked the head under one side and the feet under the other and just had the "surgical field" in front of me. Split the skin and peeled it back, removed the breasts and then the legs. Tucked the body under the side of the garbage bag and did the same for the other one.

Tossed the yucky wood shavings into the bag, tied the top and clean-up was done.

I'm really glad it's over with and they will be enchiladas next week.

I did! Lots of red skin now! Lol
Just went by "goat island" where there are several goats out on an island (go figure!) but also a bunch of peacocks! Couldn't get a pic of one displaying, but they looked huge!
So cute!!

That sounds awesome!!! I hope you have a great time!!
